FreeRTOSTM is a fully deterministic, commercial-grade, stable, and reliable RTOS that is 100 percent free to use. The kernel is open source, but all application code can remain closed source and proprietary. FreeRTOS runs on all Xtensa processors.



Tensilica Xtensa architecture support is included in the general Linux distribution and is maintained by Cadence. Learn how to get and build Linux for an Xtensa processor at www.linux-xtensa.org.



The Zephyr OS is a modular, scalable platform designed for connected, resource-strained devices such as IoT.  Zephyr OS is free software distributed under the Apache 2.0 open source license.  It's an open, transparent community project managed by the Linux Foundation.



Micrium's uC/OS-II is a portable, ROMable, scalable, preemptive, real-time deterministic multitasking kernel for microprocessors and microcontrollers. uC/OS-II is provided with all source code, which is 100% portable ANSI C. Easily scaled because of the modular nature of the source code, uC/OS-II can present a very small footprint for space-constrained designs. SAFERTOS® is a pre-certified safety Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) for embedded processors. It delivers superior performance and pre-certified dependability, whilst utilizing minimal resources. Macraigor Systems

Macraigor Systems LLC is an OEM supplier of BDM and JTAG connection devices, including the Wiggler product, which provides a very low-cost, yet full-featured connection to the on-chip debug facilities of 32-bit embedded processors. The Wiggler, USB2 Demon, and USB2 Wiggler solutions are available for our processors.



Lauterbach supports Cadence's processors with its TRACE32 PowerView microprocessor debugger. The PowerDebug in-circuit debugger is a high-performance JTAG debugger. The PowerDebug's hardware consists of a universal debug module that can be connected to any PC or workstation via a USB 2.x or Ethernet interface. The PowerView software supports multicore debugging. Graphical variable displays and dedicated commands to handle large arrays support the development of DSP-specific code. The combination of the debugger and the PowerProbe logic analyzer enables real-time measurements.



FTDI Chip develops innovative silicon solutions that enhance interaction with the latest in global technology. DTS Insight

DTS Insight offers the adviceXross JTAG Emulator for Tensilica's processors. The adviceXross JTAG Emulator is a robust development system. The adviceXross JTAG emulator and microVIEW-Xross GUI-based emulation debugger are now available. The adviceXross device is used in conjunction with the microVIEW-Xross software debugger. With the experience in programming efficiently on embedded systems, SEGGER Microcontroller has created highly integrated, cost-effective programming and development tools, such as the Flasher (stand-alone flash programmer) and the industry leading J‑Link/J‑Trace debug probe. SEGGER’s J-Link is the most popular family of debug probes on the market. It is tool chain independent and supports free GDB-based tool chains as well as commercial IDEs. J-Link covers all market leading CPU families.


Tincan Tools

Tin Can Tools was founded to respond to a need in the marketplace for high performance embedded tools and support boards. We design leading edge products but give you the ability to add features for your specific application. The Flyswatter2 from Tin Can Tools is a high speed JTAG in-circuit debugger and programmer that supports JTAG debugging of Tensilica processors via the Cadence xt-gdb command-line tool or Xtensa Xplorer IDE.


Sohwa & Sophia

EJSCATT is a JTAG debugger development tool for general-purpose embedded CPUs. Support for Xtensa single core and multi core is available by purchasing and installing the corresponding WATCHPOINT Debugger software. Multi-core processor designs, such as Xtensa+ Arm®, etc., are also supported.




Fast functional, instruction-accurate models of our processors can run on Open Virtual Platform- (OVP-) based virtual platforms. Wrapper files enabling integration of the processor models are now available for free download from the OVPworld.org website. These models will run with our TurboXim fast functional simulator, which simulates at speeds 40X to 80X faster than a traditional instruction set simulator.

Imperas's OVP wrappers for Tensilica cores use the built-in API in our simulation model for communication between the processor model and the OVP platform. The wrapper file is available now and downloadable free of charge at the OVP website: www.OVPworld.org.



Cadence is an active member of the Synopsys System Level Catalyst program, ensuring interoperability between SystemC models of Tensilica processors and leading virtual platform tools such as Synopsys Virtualizer.

Galileo Satellite Navigation

 Galileo’s software-based GNSS receiver is now available on Tensilica® ConnX DSP IP cores. The GSN GNSS receiver running on a Cadence ConnX BBE16 DSP consumes very little power and has the ability to work in lower rates, or "snap-shots" for ultra-low-power mobile scenarios. The solution delivers high sensitivity tracking, offering a seamless GNSS experience in challenging environments.



IntregrIT DSP Design House is a leading supplier of DSP software solutions. They have ported their libraries to our ConnX DSP products.



P-Product develops efficient implementations of digital signal processing software based on standard or custom specifications using algorithm optimizations and deep implementation optimization. The company has extensive experience in audio and voice codec porting and has already ported many audio and voice software packages to our HiFi Audio DSPs.



Nestwave provides advanced IoT geolocation solutions to IoT modem and DSP vendors. Nestwave's patented, hybrid-signal technology significantly improves localization accuracy in critical indoor and dense urban environments while greatly reducing power consumption and solution footprint compared to existing solutions. Nestwave solution has been ported to the Cadence Tensilica Fusion F1 DSP and was demonstrated at MWC 2019.
