Overview
Millennium M1 Accelerates CFD System Design and Analysis
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations have been widely used to shorten lengthy design cycles and reduce the number of costly experiments. However, the accuracy and speed limitations of traditional CFD solver technology and computing resources have limited the potential for CFD analysis. These challenges have typically prevented CFD users from efficient virtual engineering.
The Cadence Millennium M1 CFD Supercomputer, the industry’s first turnkey CFD solution, overcomes these obstacles with a combination of best-in-class graphic processing unit (GPU) resident CFD solvers such as the Cadence Fidelity LES Solver for large eddy simulations (LES) and scalable high-performance computing (HPC) hardware to unleash unprecedented performance. Rapid generation of high-quality synthetic data enables generative AI to quickly identify optimal system design solutions without compromising accuracy.
Millennium M1 extends the practical application of LES in aerospace, automotive, power generation, and turbomachinery applications by reducing turnaround time from days to hours.

Scalability
Millennium M1 provides near-linear scaling across applications, from external aerodynamics and aero-acoustics to combustion and multiphysics. It enables massive LES simulations with the fastest time to results—such as the accurate simulation of a realistic aircraft in landing configuration, in under 14 hours on just two GPU nodes.

High-Fidelity LES
The Fidelity LES solver within Millennium M1 combines advanced numerical methods and models, providing cost-effective, high-throughput simulation via GPU acceleration. Unique solver discretization combines with the latest sub-grid scale and wall modeling to offer an LES capability that delivers remarkable robustness to grid resolution.

Cloud Ready
Millennium M1 is available in two options: Cloud and on-premises.
Cloud
Millennium Cloud is hosted by Cadence and provides stackable compute nodes that scale with the application. General-purpose and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)-certified environments are available.
On Premises
Cadence also offers Millennium M1 as a turnkey solution installed on-premises within customer IT infrastructure—ready-to-go CFD supercomputing.
Applications
Expanding Practical Application of High-Fidelity LES
Millennium M1 enables designers to improve engineering efficiency for a broad range of applications. It provides a modern modular and scalable HPC architecture preloaded with Cadence’s Fidelity CFD software—unlocking performance like never before.
Automotive
The aerodynamics of a car play a significant role in determining the driving range of battery electric vehicles and the fuel economy/greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. As designers develop automobile aerodynamics, they need to evaluate several design considerations. Lack of accuracy in the simulation tool can result in small improvement opportunities going unnoticed or, worse, driving the design in the wrong direction.
The Fidelity LES solver in Millennium M1 provides the accuracy and precision needed for predicting aerodynamic forces with wind-tunnel accuracy in turnaround times previously achieved only with lower-fidelity methods.

Aerospace
Millennium M1 enables designers to predict aerodynamic forces for complex geometries over a range of flow regimes from low-Mach to transonic and supersonic. Changes in vehicle drag due to subtle geometric design modifications can be captured and the onset of stall over high angle of attack airfoils on a commercial aircraft can be captured.

Turbomachinery
Millennium M1 is transforming high-fidelity CFD, reducing the turnaround time for LES simulations from days to hours. Multiple high-fidelity simulations can be performed in a single day, allowing exploration of complex design spaces with unprecedented speed and accuracy and enabling large digital twin simulation and analysis.
