Cadence First-Generation Student Scholarship Program

Cadence is committed to building a culture that celebrates each of our backgrounds, experiences, and ideas. Our internship program and relationships with key universities are a critical part of our strategy to increase and support a broad pipeline of talent. To further support this mission, we are partnering with Silicon Valley Community Foundation to offer the Cadence First-Generation Scholarship for eligible students and interns.

$5,000 Scholarship Award

Scholarship recipients will be selected to receive a $5,000 scholarship, subject to applicable taxes for which the recipient will be responsible. Funds will be disbursed directly to your university to be applied toward your tuition. This is a one-time scholarship with a $5,000 award maximum. Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible.

Applicant Qualifications

The applicant must:

  • Demonstrate they are among the first generation in their family to attend an accredited university in pursuit of a four-year or graduate degree.
  • Demonstrate the ability to bring a unique perspective based on personal experiences, including challenges overcome, skills developed, adaptability, cultural fluency, resiliency, or life lessons.
  • Be a full-time student in good academic standing at an accredited university in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree program in the United States for the 2025-2026 academic year, pursuing:
    • Computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Demonstrate a strong academic record.
  • Exemplify leadership and demonstrate a passion for technology.
  • Be located within the United States or its territories.
  • Demonstrate financial need per FAFSA.

Application Requirements

To apply, applicants must submit the following information and documents by
Friday, February 28, 2025, at 12:00pm PST.

  • Completed online application questionnaire, including a personal statement
  • Academic transcript from a current university (official copy may be required if selected)
  • School and community involvement
  • Resume
  • Financial need per FAFSA
  • One letter of recommendation from a professor, instructor, or advisor

Application Questionnaire

Before you apply, you will need to prepare responses to the following questions:

  • Provide a personal statement regarding successes and challenges that have influenced your unique perspective and how they have impacted your progress toward your degree. This may be based on factors such as lived experiences, skills developed, personal adaptability and resiliency, cultural fluency and influence, or life lessons. (Limit 250 words)
  • List any academic awards or recognitions in technology that you have received. Also, name any relevant technology/engineering societies or clubs you are a part of.
  • Describe a technical project that you pursued or are pursuing at school or in your personal time that you are passionate about. (Limit 250 words)
  • Provide an example of how your leadership, using technical or non-technical skills, made a positive or measurable impact in the community. (Limit 250 words)
