It is an honor to announce that we have crossed a major milestone in the history of the Cadence Academic Network – our 10-year anniversary celebrating a decade full of accomplishments. What began as a pilot venture in Central Europe, grew exponentially into a global success story.
The academic network is so much more than a standard university program. It is a marriage between industry and academia that is unique in the semiconductor ecosystem. Fruitful long-term relationships have been forged with professors and students because we value the benefits of a collaborative environment.
The program is an essential part of our commitment to help develop the next generation of engineers. According to Cadence CEO Lip-Bu Tan, “Our university program reaches out to the best students at key universities. We also engage heavily with the professors to make sure they understand that electronic design automation is still very important and relevant.”
The Cadence Academic Network started in 2007 as a pilot in Central Europe. A few years later, we introduced our learning and collaboration methods to Eastern Europe, Russia and eventually all of EMEA. In 2015, the Academic Network started a global expansion to the Americas and followed that to Asia-Pacific in 2016. We will continue to expand this innovative educational program to new bounds.
Going back at our inception in 2007, we could only imagine what the future would bring. Now as we look forward to the next ten years, we will strive to develop and improve the program to equip pioneering scholars with the resources they need to achieve greatness. The Cadence Academic Network will continue to be a key contributor in the intellectual and scholastic community for many years to come.
Video Challenge Top Winners
Thank you for the overwhelming response to the video challenge. We are excited by the level of dedication and passion that the university members have towards the Academic Network. We would like to announce the Top Winners:
- Bar Ilan University
- Ruhr – University Bochum
- University of Reutlingen
- Duke University
- University of Mississippi
- Wayne State University
- National Cheng Kung University
- Shanghai Jiao Tong University
We asked our members to share their story of how the program has impacted their teaching, learning, or research. To enter the video challenge, they were asked to submit an essay of 300 to 1000 words that answered these questions:
- How has participation in the Cadence University Program impacted your institution and classroom?
- If access to a Cadence expert was provided to your institution, how would you use your time with the expert?
Authors of selected essays were invited to showcase their creativity by turning the essay into a short video.
- A visit by a Cadence technical expert to help maximize use of Cadence tools
- Free airfare and accommodations to a regional CDNLive event in 2018
