PCB layout and routing

Cadence offers automatic and interactive interconnect routing technology for PCBs and complex IC packages. Designed to handle routing challenges from simple designs to high-density PCBs requiring complex, high-speed design rules, Cadence® PCB place-and-route technology grows with you, keeping up with the increasing complexity of your designs.

Products

Allegro PCB Design L—combines a PCB editor, and an auto/interactive router as well as interfaces for manufacturing, and mechanical CAD.
Allegro PCB Design XL—extends the L family to provide higher levels of design assistance to the end-user, including design partitioning, design for assembly analysis, and other enhancements
Allegro PCB Design GXL—comprises the most advanced configuration of PCB layout and interconnect design technology, including a global route environment for automated, intelligent planning and routing
OrCAD PCB Designer—offer cost-effective solutions for smaller design teams—featuring OrCAD Capture, OrCAD PCB Editor, SPECCTRA® for OrCAD, and, optionally, PSpice

Options

Allegro PCB Performance Option (Allegro PCB Design L series only)— enables physical constraint-driven, high-speed PCB layout with system-wide constraint management for high-speed routing, advanced physical rule support, design reuse, and automated testability and analysis
Allegro PCB Partitioning Option (Allegro PCB Design Performance Option, Allegro PCB Design XL and GXL)—provides a multi-user, concurrent design methodology that allows designers to partition designs into multiple sections or areas for layout and editing by several design team members, speeding time to market and reducing layout time
Allegro Router Auto-Interactive Router Option L (Allegro PCB Design L series only)—increases the layer capacity to 256 layers with unlimited component pins. Includes a complete shape-based automatic and interactive routing system for high-density PCBs, an autorouter, interactive route editor, and interactive placement editor—all of which are upgraded to 256 layers with this option
Allegro Router Performance Option L (Allegro PCB Design L series only)—includes advanced rules, design for manufacturing and test rules, and microvia rules to further enhance the functionality of the autorouter

Successes and Customer testimonials
"We are confident that the new Cadence interconnect flow within the Global Route Environment technology can significantly reduce redundancies in today's routing processes. This is a ground-breaking effort and reinforces the commitment by Cadence to its PCB technology development cycle."
- Jim Tafoya, PCB design technical manager, Sun Microsystems

"As a leading contributor to the development of the Cadence Global Route Environment technology, Motorola is pleased to be one of the first adopters of this next generation platform for printed circuit routing. By utilizing this new, enhanced routing environment, Motorola is enabling our engineers and designers to more accurately convey design intent, throughout the entire routing design process."
- Jeff Underwood, principal staff printed circuit designer, Motorola
