  • Cadence user manual

Hi, Is there any User manual for spectre simulations, where functions of each button and analysis , FFT, DFT, calculator ,etc have been explained. I was unable to find any document for such a very expensive Simulator. Just like LabVIEW they provide a very nice help and documentation for their customers...

  • Simulating Crystal Oscillators is Much Easier in MMSIM12.1 - Part 2

Greetings, Simulating crystal oscillators got a lot easier in MMSIM12.1... We have made enhancements to both Harmonic Balance and transient analyses. In Part 1 , I discussed Improvements to the Harmonic Balance use model. With the new streamlined Choosing Analyses form, you now can focus on getting your...

  • Mixed Signal Technology Summit Proceedings Now Available

In September 2012, Cadence held its second Mixed-Signal Summit in San Jose, California. 150 users attended the Summit. The full day program was packed by user presentations. Strong participation and attendance was yet another confirmation of increased design activities in the mixed-signal area. Attendees...

  • MMSIM 12.1 SpectreRF -- Preview of Coming nport Attractions! Part 2

Greetings, MMSIM 12.1 contains many new features to aid RF designers. Many of these changes are described in my Part 1 blog post. I've saved my favorite for last....here's a preview of the changes to the nport component in MMSIM12.1. 1. The Edit Object Properties/Add Instance form has been revised...

  • Modeling Oscillators with Arbitrary Phase Noise Profiles

When you need to include noisy oscillators in SpectreRF transceiver simulations, you have at least 3 options: 1) Semi-autonomous simulation is the most accurate approach, recommended whenever the transistor-level model of the oscillator is available. 2) rfLib/osc model is less accurate but it’s...

  • Measuring 2-Tone Intermodulation Using Envelope-Following Analysis

From time to time, SpectreRF users simulate very large, extracted-view circuits in 2+ tone QPSS. In many of those cases, memory requirements exceed the available resources. When that happens and small-signal approximations aren’t applicable, the user is typically stuck. The solution below and attached...

  • Re: repeated measurements in Spectre

I think you can use the "crosses" function to get the cross points of lower and upper threshold values and the difference between the corresponding values will give you rise/fall times.

  • Internal error with topology.c

Hi, When I try to run a Spectre dc and trans simulation with my 8-bit-adder circuit, have an internal error stopping the simulation. I get the following messages in the spectre log window: 1) the usual "unable to compile ahdlcmi module library" message (which has not stopped my simulations...

  • TFT and BSIM device equations

Hello everyone I am working TFT circuit design. According to Virtuoso® Simulator Circuit Components and Device Models Manual Product Version 7.1.1 June 2009, Cadence Spectre and UltraSim simulators support RPI TFT model. The equations of RPI TFT models are listed in the above file. I created the...

  • Multiple Model Files

Hi, I am working on a circuit where I need multiple model files. The first one I am using is gpdk045, I tried modifying this file to use with transistors from the analog library. The problem I have is that my simulations are wrong whenever I use a transistor with the second model file it just produces...
