    Via automatically assigning net Reply

    Hi,

I am using Allegro 15.5.1, 610 Design expert.  When I am copying and pasting a via without assigning any net, it is automatically assigning net to the nearest plane. Is there any way to exclude the problem other than deleting the plane?? We need to paste a lot of vias where this is becoming a hindarance...

    Thanking in advance,

    Pavan.M

Using the route command, place a via in an area of the board where it will not connect to anything. When you copy this via, check the retain net of vias box on the options tab. This should allow you to place vias connected to "dummy" net.

    Hi Hpattie,

I tried it, but it is happening the same. I took for the via that has a dummy net with retaining nets and pasted, then they stay only in dummy net.

    regards,
    Pavan

It sounds like you are trying to add stitching to the perimeter of your design for shielding. If you want the vias to connect to a specific net, ie Signal_GND, you will have to start with a via that is connected to that net. You may contact me at hpattie@entrisphere.com
