How to group components in Capture and transfer to Allegro Reply

    Hi,
Can any one explain me the possibilities of grouping the components in capture so that in allegro I have flexibility to place/ move components section wise or else it takes lot of time to search and place/move the component(i have around 5000 components). I am using capture 9.2.3 and allegro 14.2 Expert.

    Regards

Aside from using the ROOM property, here's the proceedure I use.  It may sound cumbersome but it works and is quite fast.  It is assuming all the parts have been quickplaced.

    - have a text editor open and saved with a name like p.lst in the same folder as your board file
    - select the parts you want to move in Capture, then CTRL-E (edit properties)
    - make sure you pivot the view so the Part Reference is a column and not a row
    - select the Part Reference column, pres CTRL-C (copy)
    - paste into the p.lst text file and save
    - use the move command, find by Symbol and make suire you have list selected and enter the list name (p then enter)
    - all the parts selected in Capture are then moved together move and group them as you want
    - just repeat the proceedure as often as you like, just paste over the previous list and save

    Or:

Leave your schematic open, select "hilight" and "symbols" in Allegro, then go to Capture and select all your parts that you want grouped. It should highlight them making it easier to group.
