    CDN Live Sept 12-14 will answer many questions about 15.7 Reply

    There has been some of discussion about 15.7  recently. Come to CDN Live and get all of the good, bad, and ugly on 15.7 there will  a paper presented on Back Drilling in allegro 15.7, hands on tutorials, road maps and even an ask the experts session where you can discuss with the developers and even other expert users will give their insight.

    The papers and presentations will be available only to the attendees of CDNLive! Silicon Valley for a few months, so members really need to attend the event, which will be held September 12-14.

    The schedule of presentations for CDNLive! Silicon Valley is available at

    Missed the CDN this year, but have questions about improvements to 15.7, specifically in the drill table. We output our table in inches, to three decimal places. Unfortunately, if the drill size is say .040", the value output in the table is .04, without the trailing zero. Is there some tweak that can be made to add trailing zeroes to a certain number of decimal places?

    You can specify how many trailing digits you would like to appear in the legend by changing the drill file located at:

    <$cdsroot>\share\pcb\text\nclegend\*.dlt

    There is a section refered to as Precision and reads as follows:

    ; ?Precision
    ; ----------
    ;
    ; Precision specifies the number of decimal digits to follow the
    ; decimal point in size and tolerance values appearing in the table.
    ;
    ; -1 = as many as are needed ... minimum 1 (DEFAULT)
    ; 0 = suppress decimal point and decimal digits
    ; >0 = always put decimal digits after the decimal point,
    ; adding any trailing 0's as necessary
    ;
    ?Precision -1

    I have set that to be a 9 and the output in inches for a 38 thousandths hole was

    0.038000000

    A bit extreme - just testing the code :-). IN all the .dlt files are very well self documented. Take some time to peruse them.
