what does RidlPart in SigXplorer mean Reply

    Hi,

My SigXplorer simulation failed with following error:

    ABORT: UNCONNECTED CIRCUIT
Following nodes and elements are unconnected
    4
    RidlePart_21
    1

Any idea what this error means?

I am using a blackbox ESPICE interconnect model to connect my driver and receiver through a termination resistor.

    Thanks Saad.

    Hi Saad,

Black boxes are nice because you can put just about anything into them, yet they can cause connectivity issues.  The tool needs you to tell it which pins follow through to other pins.  This is done with the "Pin Connections" keyword in the DML.  An example looks like:

    (PinConnections

    (1 2 )

    (2 1 ) )

In this case, pins 1 and 2 "connect" in both directions.  If you do not have a statement like this, the circuit builder will complain that your circuit is not connected.

If you built your black box by hand you may be missing this section, which would explain the abort.  Just look at a couple example models and edit it in.  And watch those parens!

    Hope that helps,
    Donald

    Hi Donald,

Thanks for the reply and useful info.

The actual problem turned out to be in the .subckt line.

I changed the node names in this line without synchronizing my PinConnections section. Thanks to Abhay (Cadence) for this correction. So probably the circuit builder looked into the PinConnection section and tried to match this with .subckt definition. Not finding the same pin names in the .subckt it issued 'un-connected circuit' error.

    Regards,
    Saad.
