How do you run an HSPICE simulation without the foundary .libs? Reply

I have been running HSPICE simulations from SigXP for a while - works very well with the Xilinx design kit for RocketIO.

For those unfamiliar with this, SigXP targets HSPICE instead of TLSim and the DML models are wrapped HSPICE. The results are displayed back in SigWave.

I need to do the same with some customer supplied HSPICE IO models. However, these models require the foundry libraries (e.g. TSMC 0.15um library). I have been told that I would have to buy these libraries to simulate the supplied encryted HSPICE. Is this true?!!! That means that if a customer can't supply the libraries then to run their simulation I would have to buy the same foundry models that they already own. Can this be true? How do people normally run simulations of people's HSPICE? Are the relavent libraries normally supplied?

Does anyone have any experience of this?

    Chris

    Hi,

    My problem is little differ!!
    I am spectarquest 15.2 user.

I have Hspice model (I don't know which format) of usb switch.

You can download the models from http://www.fairchildsemi.com/pf/FS/FSUSB22.html#models (I can not attach due to some end user licence issue)..

My question is can I use this model in spectraquest instead of IBIS?

Please reply ASAP........ (Are you listning cadence?)

    Waiting for reply.

    For Chris' question:
Whatever the libs you need to run HSpice, Allegro PCB SI will need them to run simulations. The reason is that we will run HSpice as the simulator in aSI environment.

    For Naren's question:
Yes, you can use HSpice model in Sigxp instead of IBIS. But you need to have proper HSpice simulator and license to run.

    Hope this helps.
