    PCD Design Process Reply

    I'm a newbie in Orcad Layout.
    Can anyone help me in understanding the best design flow in PCB layout process.
    I suppose that the process is listed in this way for a 2 layer board (top and bottom):

    1) Place components;

    2) Place outline and other obstacles;

    3) Route top and bottom plane;

    4) Add copper area on top and bottom planes connected to GND net;

    In some tutorial I have found that copper areas are placed all over the board and then the routing is accomplished, but this sounds strange for me.
    I'm always afraid by the idea that some vias or IC pads can't be connected because there are too obstacles all around and the power plane can't reach them.
    Please let me know what's the bast way to proceed in order to have more possibility to complete the layout without problems.

    Best regards.

    For the layout better try to use the Kraig Mitzner "OrCAD Capture with Layout" Tutorial. For th begginers the mitzner book is very useful.From the basic to till end the details are clearly mentioned by him.
