Parameters not being compiled in cell characterization Reply

    Hello,

I'm trying to do a Cell Characterization with ELC, using the method described in this book, but I'm having some issues when spectre loads the parameters from the spice model.

Every time I simulate my model using db_spice, I receive this error:

[WARNING(db_spice)]No spice simulation to do, please check the cell/process list for any error

I've checked the model generated by the simulator and my parameters were not compiled, they are loaded as expressions, just like in my models file.

Here is a piece of my model's code:

    ________________________________________________________________________

    simulator lang=spectre insensitive=yes
    model nch bsim4 {
    1: type=n lmin=1e-005-dxln lmax=2e-05 wmin=1.003e-005-dxwn
    + wmax=90.003e-05 version=4.5 rgeomod=1 binunit=2 paramchk=1 mobmod=0
    + capmod=2 igcmod=0 igbmod=0 diomod=1 rdsmod=1 rbodymod=0 rgatemod=0
    + permod=1 acnqsmod=0 trnqsmod=0 tempmod=0 wpemod=1 tnom=25 toxe=toxn
    + toxm=toxn dtox=5.958e-010 epsrox=3.9 wint=1.02e-008 lint=2.595e-008
    + ll=0 wl=0 lln=1 wln=1 lw=0 ww=0 lwn=1 wwn=1 lwl=0 wwl=0 llc=0 wlc=0
    + lwc=0 wwc=0 lwlc=0 wwlc=0 xl=-1.5e-08+dxln xw=0+dxwn

    ________________________________________________________________________

I've tried to set values for dxwn as suggested by Andrew Beckett in this thread, but It didn't work.

I found in a thesis some explanation about this warning:

[WARNING(db_spice)]No spice simulation to do, please check the
    cell/process list for any error

The db_prepare command works fine and creates the design and all vectors but db_spice cannot
recognize the simulation. Unfortunately, ELC leaves the log folders empty in most run that makes the
tracking impossible; however, the error is assumed to be as follows.
There are some parameters declared in the model file but when the ELC extract the pch and nch
models in the db_prepare command, it does not copy those parameters value into the pch and nch
model files, so they remain undefined. This problem does not show itself until db_spice command in
which the spectre cannot complete the simulation because of those undefined parameters. One of the
errors is provided below and all other errors are the same.

Do you have any documentation on this issue? How should I proceed?

    Thanks,

    Leonardo
