# Calculator - Special Functions (xmin & xmax)

Calculator - Special Functions (xmin & xmax)
 Hello, I am exploring the special functions in IC 6.1.I created a simple inverter and used xmin and xmax of the output signal.When I use xmin and xmax of the output signal with Nth Minimizer value equal to 1, I get the value corresponding to it. Whereas, when I have the value of Nth Minimizer equal to 2 or more than 2,  I don't get the expected result.The following is the error message when the value of Nth minimizer is  =>2.expression evaluation failed: Expression evaluates to nil expression evaluation failed: xmin(VT("/out") 2 ) How do I get around with this issue? Thanks,Dinesh

 Dinesh,Note that xmin and xmax do not return the x-value for a local minimum, but the x-value of the global minimum. The second argument is for when that global minimum (or maximum) appears at more than one x location.If you pass 0 as the second argument, you'll get a list of the x values - I suspect there's only one point at which the global minimum/maximum occurs.Regards,Andrew.
