OrCad Lite 16.6 Discrete Parts Library on Windows 8 Reply
I'm a student and I really need to use the discrete parts library in OrCAD to simulate some of the work we are doing in class but my discrete parts library seems to be non-functional. PSpice does not see any of the components from that library. It sees an open circuit at the location and gives an error. The discrete parts library is the library with basic resistors, capacitors and inductors. I'm running x64 Windows 8 and I don't know if that is the problem. It probably is. Does anyone have a possible solution? One that doesn't involve reformatting...

For PSpice simulation one should use library & parts from <INSTALLDIR>/tools/capture/library/PSpice folder. Discrete library is not designed for PSpice simulation. For PSpice simulation you can get R/L/C parts from <INSTALLDIR>/tools/capture/library/PSpice/analog.olb.

Also if you are using 16.6 release, you can pick and place most of commonly used from Place>PSpice Components >........

Hope this enables you move forward.
