I just upgraded to SPB16.6  My footprint viewer is no longer working in CIS.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

New version, new INI file, you need to re-add the "Allegro Footprints" directories in the INI file. The "live" INI file has moved in 16.6 and the location is reported in the Session Log at startup so check that entry before adding the entries to any INI files.

The Capture INI Manager in the Capture Marketplace is provided to support migrating library settings between versions but this is not applicable to unlicensed installations of the tools.

According to capture.ini, my Allegro Footprints directory is 'Dir0=C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.6_Lite\share\pcb\pcb_lib\symbols' and there do appear to be a bunch of footprint symbols there but I still get the 'ERROR(ORCAP-1732): Could not retrieve PCB Footprint property. Unable to show footprint in viewer.' Am guessing that since this is a fresh install there shouldn't be any .ini migration issues?

The part is going to need a PCB Footprint property defined and that Footprint name is going to need to be found in the configured footprint directories. Since most of the parts in the supplied reference libraries are "generic", rather than "specific", the PCB Footprint properties are not defined. (As an example, a resistor could be in a number of different physical packages)

Is the proper way to assign the footprint name by doubleclicking the part and adding a foot print under the PCB Footprint field? When I do this I don't get any dialogue box or list of possible foot prints........

Oh... if it were only that simple!  Perhaps, someday...
