    Capture schematic footprint viewer Reply

    Hi

    I want to see the pcb footprint when a schematic symbol is placed.

    Example: CAP1206 on PCB Editor side, same on schematic symbol side.

    PCB Editor path to footprint library is: P:\a_PCB_Design\CADENCE PCB DESIGN\SYMBOLS\CAPS, symbol CAP1206.dra

    Schematic symbol library path is:P:\a_PCB_Design\CADENCE SCHEMATIC\Library\Lester\CAPACITOR.OLB, symbol CAP1206

    INI file setup

    [Footprint Viewer Type]
    Type=Allegro
    [Allegro Footprints]

    Dir1=P:\a_PCB_Design\CADENCE PCB DESIGN\SYMBOLS\CAPS

    followed by rest of libraries

    When I select the schematic symbol (CAP1206) in the design and RMB for show footprint, I don't see the footprint.

    On the command line it says: Allegro footprint CAP1206 not found in search path.

    I do have the, P:\a_PCB_Design\CADENCE PCB DESIGN\SYMBOLS\CAPS in the Paths, Library, psmpath on the PCB EDITOR side.

    What am I missing for this to work?

    Thanks

    It could be a few things.

    1. Make sure the dra and associated *sm (psm, bsm, ssm, osm, fsm) are in the same directory).

    2. You don't mention a Dir0=......

    3. You have a space in the psmpath. It might / might not cause an issue but you could try replacing the space with a _

    Thanks for the reply.

    The .dra and associated psm .. files are in the correct directory.

    I did add the first Dir0…

    I also replaced the space with a under bar.

    None of this helped.

    I guess I’ll have to call our reseller tech support for help.

    Thanks
