Translating PCBs from Altium to Allegro? Reply

Hi all, what is the preferred way to get a PCB layout from Altium to Allegro?

I thought the path would be to export to PCAD in ASCII format from Altium and then import to Allegro using the built-in PCAD translator. I can't get this to work though. When I try this Altium exports an ascii *.pcb* file, and the Allegro PCAD (PDIF) translator is looking for a *.pdf* file.

Does anyone have any experience with this, or know a better method to get from Altium to Allegro?

    Many thanks in advance!

One of the Cadence Channel Partners has an Altium - Allegro translator. I'm not sure of the costs involved. Have a look for FlowCAD, they are based in Germany.
