Orcad Does not recgonize Diode Reply

Trying to get a simple diode to work in Orcad Pspice. It is a silicon PN junction diode D1N4001.

Firstly it is giving an error called "Model d1N4001 used by D_D1 is undefined".

When I go to another machine where this diode works (and the same circuit and project works), I copy the diode.olb and diode.lib file and place them in :

    put .lib file here :
    C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.5_Lite\OpenAccess\lib\win32\opt
    add .olb file here:
    C:\OrCAD\OrCAD_16.5_Lite\tools\capture\library\pspice

I restarted Pspice but it still gives the same errors.

The non operational Orcad copy is

    Orcad Capture CIS Lite

    16.5-S014 (v 16-5-13AJ)Nov 11 2011

    Pspice Plugin 16.5-S001 (v16-5-13D) 5/24/2011

    The operational copy is :

    piPIC Plugin 16.0.0.p001
Copyright© 2001-2007 Cadence Design Systems, Inc.

    CIS Plugin 16.0.0.p001
Copyright © 1995-2007 Cadence Design Systems, Inc.All rights reserved.

    PSpice Plugin 16.0.0.p001
Copyright© 1997-2007 Cadence Design Systems, Inc.

Basic Scripting Engine provided by Cypress Software Inc.,
    Copyright 1993 - 1998, all rights reserved.

I was looking for one SiliconD1N4001, one zener IN751A, one shottky IN5817 and one germanium IN270 diode.

You need to add model library ".lib" under simulation Profile>Configuration file >Library section.

    Steps:

    Open .opj FIle in capture

Select : PSpice>Edit Simulation Profile (it should bring up following dialog)

Select the Configuration FIle TAB & Select Library section in it

Browse to "diode.lib" & Click on one of Add buttons

Add As Global means: This library & models in it would  be available for all designs & their simulation profiles on this machine

Add to design means: This library & models in it would  be available for all simulation profile in this design

Add to Profile means: This library & models in it would  be available for this simulation profile only

Please note in Lite version there are certain limitations on what all one can simulate. Use eval.olb for creating design as that library is meant for Lite version simulation and you can find several types of devices in it.

I followed the steps above and added the diode.lib file as a global. I re ran the simulation but the same error came up.

Went back and tried to add the lib file to the design by clicking on "add to profile" and then it worked!

This means that I will have to remember to add it to the simulation profile everytime?

     Hi,

I am getting similar errors for a lot of other components like op amps and transformers . Here is one for an op amp:

    Why is this happening ?

I follow the same procedure which is add diode.olb through parts and then diode.lib through the add library in configuration (edit simulation) etc.

    But to no avail.
