    axlDBCreateText with parent dbid is removed on refresh/update symbols Reply
    Dear All,

     I am creating additional text for symbols using  below syntax. Text got created successfully.

    But when I refresh/update the symbols, these text gets removed from the database symbols.

     axlDBCreateText( TP_netname , TP->xy, tp_text_orient, create_tp_textlayer, parent_dbid)

     since this is user defined text in layout they are getting removed. Is there a way to override to make this text retained.

     Thanks,

    Nagaraj.

    No, there is no way of stopping a refresh from deleting added objects. That would sort of negate the point of a refresh! You have to get around this problem with a Skill utility to record such objects before "refreshing" the symbols and re-adding the objects.

    It would be nice if Cadence offered a more comprehensive refreshing tool that handled this. The refresh has evolved over the years but still isn't quite there.
