how to assign a net to a shape (in a psm on a brd) Reply

I have made a complex shape with a via array as a thermal pad for my device.  What I can't seem to figure out is how to assign the shape to a particular net such as GND?

I tried it in the dra and didn't work (assign net grayed out) and I tried after placement on the brd (assign net grayed out)

    Help anyone?

*If you had drawn the shape in etch class in the .dra file & then when it get imported board file select shape & assign  desired net .

*Second good option is  draw the shape in "File ->New->Shape symbol" . & call this in the pad stack  file , then it will be part of the pad

I tried all that. Assign net is grayed out of the selection menu.
