i meet the similar problem to you. i dont know which file was deleted or which application will disturbe the virtuoso.

The virtuoso tells me an error: ddMapGetFileViewType: argument #1 should be addUserType (type template = " b") -nil how can i solve this problem? Any guides or helps will be pleased.

Very hard to know what the real problem is, but it suggests that some code you are loading from the .cdsinit is not set up properly.  Maybe it's the Calibre Interface (which is from Mentor)?

If you run "virtuoso -nocdsinit" do you still get the problem?

 Excuse me, the Mozilla Firefox didn't support to post the image or the text in my OS, so I have to paste the CDS.log on the message. 

I find when I choose the "File"  option on CIW, the problem will appear. And the problem doesn't appear if I choose "Tools", "Options" or "Help" on CIW.

OK, you clearly did not run with the "-nocdsinit" option because it's still installing the Mentor customization.

My guess is that you have something trying to register some additional viewTypes (maybe for Mentor simulators?) and it's not set up correctly. 

You need to check through what is in your .cdsinit , and also how the environment is set up. Most likely this is due to a third party customization you have though, so you might want to contact that provider for help.

I'm sorry, I forget send the CDS_nocdsinit.log.

I run the virtuoso -nocdsinit command. The result is above.

My add the following code into  .cdsinit file to start the virtuoso with calibre. And it ran successfully without problem at the first time.

Can you try typing "cdswhich -all data.reg" in the UNIX window in the same directory that you start virtuoso? Maybe there's a view type being registered but only partially.

The other thing you might want to try is deleting (or maybe just renaming for now) the ".cadence" directory where you started virtuoso from:

mv .cadence .cadence_renamed

The second one is perfect. I rename the .cadence, and restart the virtuoso, the problem disappeared.

My guess is that you had some strange views in the last 10 opened cellview (ie the history shown on the File menu). Hard to know what the problem was without seeing the data, but glad it's resolved now.

 o, I have some questions about the .cadence file.  What is .cadence file's function? How do you know to delete the file maybe will ok?

It is used to record various preferences and settings. For example, if you create workspaces inside the schematic editor (the arrangement of assistants and menus) and save this with a name, it goes into the .cadence dir. Similarly setup of ViVA is recorded there. Bookmarks and history are recorded there.

Losing the .cadence dir won't break anything, but might lose some preferences in some cases. I suspect it's just the history bit (I'd have to check the filename to delete just the history - I'm not in front of my computer right now). I also want to check a theory I have about what might cause your problem.

There are two files (dfII and cadence.signature.xml) in the .cadence file. And the old .cadence file has history, Navigator and viva. The history file has only one file "root.history", it tells me about some cellview I opened before. And the Navigator has Option.xml, I can't open it with firefox. The viva file is an empty file.
