NPORT: mismatch between number of noise parameters and number of ports Reply
    I am using Cadence IC 6.1.3. I have a problem simulating the specific attached touchstone file using the nport component. After netlisiting, I get the following error *** START error **** ERROR (SPECTRE-10008): "xxx/sqvco8_xcouple.s8p", line 163: Error:Mismatch found between number of noise parameters and number of ports. *** END error******* The netlist generated is shown below *** START netlist *** // Generated for: spectre // Generated on: Apr 7 00:47:49 2011 // Design library name: DraftLib // Design cell name: n8port // Design view name: schematic simulator lang=spectre global 0 include "xxx/allModels.scs" // Library name: DraftLib // Cell name: n8port // View name: schematic PORT1 (p2 0) port r=50 type=dc PORT0 (p1 0) port r=50 type=dc NPORT0 ( p1 0 net18 0 net16 0 net14 0 p2 0 net10 0 net8 0 net6 0) nport \ interp=rational thermalnoise=no datafmt=touchstone \ file="xxx/sqvco8_xcouple.s8p" simulatorOptions options reltol=1e-3 vabstol=1e-6 iabstol=1e-12 temp=27.0 \ tnom=27 scalem=1.0 scale=1.0 gmin=1e-12 rforce=1 maxnotes=5 maxwarns=5 \ digits=5 cols=80 pivrel=1e-3 sensfile="../psf/sens.output" \ dochecklimit=no checklimitdest=psf sp sp ports=[PORT0 PORT1] start=1e4 stop=1e9 lin=1e2 annotate=status modelParameter info what=models where=rawfile element info what=inst where=rawfile outputParameter info what=output where=rawfile designParamVals info what=parameters where=rawfile primitives info what=primitives where=rawfile subckts info what=subckts where=rawfile saveOptions options save=all pwr=all currents=all useprobes=yes \ saveahdlvars=all *** END netlist *** I do not have any noise paramaters in my touch stone file and I cannot figure-out why I am getting this error. I would really appreciate it if someone can help with this error. Thanks

     Hi elbadry,

Your post is really hard to read (formatting has been removed and everything runs together).

    1.   Do not use rational interpolation!   Use linear or spline.  Please see appNote available on Cadence Online Support

(support.cadence.com "Using the nport in Spectre and SpectreRF Simulations"

In addition, please see the blog I wrote on nport settings:  My Favorite nport Settings for Spectre and SpectreRF

    2. You are getting the error message because you have multiple sets of s-parameters for the same frequency point.

    Best regards,

    Tawna

Hi Tawna, Thanks for the reply. I'll try to adjust the repeated frequency points and see how it goes sorry for the unformatted post (I am not sure why formatting was removed)

    Hi elbadry,

I have also filed an enhancement CCR to improve our error message (currently, it's not very intuitive!) and also will be publishing Solution 11710310 on Cadence Online Support to alert other users who may run into this issue.

That'd be great nport finally worked after resolving the repeated data points. Thanks again!

Glad it's working!  Be sure to look at the post on recommended nport settings.  The nport is a bit tricky.
