    RE: generating SDF Reply

    Hi,

Which encounter vesion do you use ? Which command are you using for SDF out ?

For last encounter version I use for generating spef something as:
    rcOut -rc_corner Worst_corner -spef Worst.spef
    rcOut -rc_corner Best_corner -spef Best.spef

We use after directly under PrimeTime these two files. I am not sure it is possible to control the corner with sdf outputs.

    Regards ... Luc ..

    Hi Lutin ,
Thank you for your response. Iam using 6.1 version and using the following command
    "delayCal -mergeSetupHold -sdf ".

The problem is iam generating sdf for only one corner at a time .But , i would like to generate it for multiple
    corners.
Could you suggest me any thing in this issue.

    Regards,
    KVB

    Hi,

I am not sure this to be possible. Normally only one corner is used at a time by encounter. The only moment when there are two corners is when you fix the hold,
where encounter need the worst corner to fix the hold without breaking the setup.
For sample you can try the following:

    setAnalysisMode -setup
    extractRC -force
    delayCal -mergeSetupHold -sdf delayCal.setup.sdf
    setAnalysisMode -hold
    extractRC -force
    delayCal -mergeSetupHold -sdf delayCal.hold.sdf

The two files are different, and you need a special tool to merge them.

Did you submit this problem to cadence support ?

    Regards ...

    RE: generating SDF Reply

The tool has been enhanced in this area around the 6.1 timeframe. In the olden days, delay calculation -and- sdf writing were done together as part of the delayCal command. This method of operation became outmoded as the tool was enhanced to support Mulit-Mode Multi-Corner (MMMC). The "write_sdf" command can be used to write delay values stored in memory. I think the best way to do what you're looking for is with MMMC and the write_sdf command. Something like this:

    timeDesign
    write_sdf -min_view -typ_view -max_view

    encounter 1> help write_sdf
    Usage: write_sdf [-version { 2.1 | 3.0 }] [-precision
    ] [-scale ]
    [-delimiter ] [-transform_out_to_out_arcs]
    [-celltiming {all | none | nochecks}]
    [-interconn {all | none | noport |
    noinport | nooutport}] [-edges {edged
    | library | noedge | check_edge}] [-remashold]
    [-splitrecrem] [-splitsetuphold] [-condelse]
    [-nonegchecks] [-min_period_edges {posedge
    | negedge | both | none}] [-no_escape]
    [-merge_arcs] [-process] [-voltage]
    [-temperature] [-filter] [-view ]
    [-min_view ] [-typ_view ]
    [-max_view ]

    Hope this helps,
    Bob
