Way to retrieve cell version from gds file Reply

    Hi,

I have two gds files; one streamed out with version 5 and the other with 6. I can combine these gds files after streaming in back (and then streaming out in some version) or using some tool which can combine gds files. Is there any way to retrieve the original version of individual files from the combined gds file? Does the gds retain the version of the individual cells inside that?

% od -x will always result in the current gds version only.

    Thanks and Regards, Leo

    Leo,

The steam version number is only in the HEADER record, of which there is one per file.

So the answer is no. Why does it matter?  The changes in version 6 were a little esoteric (addition of LIBDIRSIZE, SRFNAME and LIBSECUR records) and as far as I know, only used on Calma tools and not of use in any other system.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Just wanted to know, whether a gds created out of multiple gds files of different versions would carry info regarding the individual versions or not.

    Thanks for the clarification
