Oscillator Phase Noise with SpectreRF Reply
On p416 of the SpectreRF User guide, there is a plot of the phase noise vs. frequency for an oscillator in dBc/Hz. The phase noise at close in frequencies to the carrier has a value greater than 0 - I am wondering why is this the case? Or perhaps another way to ask this would be how does spectreRf measure the carrier amplitude to scale the phase noise plots in dBc/Hz. Thank you in advance. -Vijay

    Hi Vijay095,

This is discussed in depth in Cadence Online Support Solution

    http://support.cadence.com/wps/mypoc/cos?uri=deeplinkmin:ViewSolution;solutionNumber=1832229

Essentially, values above 0dBc/Hz should be discarded.

    best regards,

    Tawna
