    problem with mmsim61 Reply

     i've just finished the installation of cadence ic5141 and mmsim61 and configuration.

     when i simulating a simple inverter circuit in ADE,it gives the error messages below:

    cpp: unrecognized option `-$'
    Environment variable:
        SPECTRE_DEFAULTS=-E
    Command line:
        /usr/eda/cadence/MMSIM61/tools.lnx86/spectre/bin/32bit/spectre -env  \
            artist5.1.0 +escchars +log ../psf/spectre.out +inter=mpsc  \
            +mpssession=spectre0_30971_1 -format sst2 -raw ../psf  \
            -I/usr/eda/cadence/lib/IBM_PDK/cmrf8sf/V1.6.2.4DM/Spectre/models  \
            +lqtimeout 900 -maxw 5 -maxn 5 input.scs
    spectre pid = 31131

    Loading /usr/eda/cadence/MMSIM61/tools.lnx86/cmi/lib/4.0/libphilips_sh.so ...

    Internal error found in spectre.  Please run `getSpectreFiles' or send the netlist, the spectre log file, the behavioral model files, and any other information that can help identify the problem to support@cadence.com.
        Segmentation fault.

     then the ADE is stopping here,how can i solve these?

    thx for help!

    Hi Minci,

     This is a spectre error and isn't from the Analog Design Environment.

    The first issue that I see is you are using a very very old version of spectre that is no longer supported.  Please consider upgrading to MMSIM 7.2 - there have been many fixes and enhancements in the software.

    You may download the latest release from the downloads.cadence.com website.

    Best regards,

     Tawna

    Re: problem with mmsim61 Reply

    It's impossible to diagnose without more information. Maybe you should try taking your input.scs and running from the command line and see if it reveals more information about the root cause.

    Potentially there might be some sensitivity to what is in your input.scs, but without seeing that and knowing the precise version of spectre, it's hard to know. Even repeating this within Customer support could be a challenge as the version of spectre you're using is old and unsupported, as Tawna mentioned - but Customer support would do their best to help you (I'm advising that because you may not be able to post the netlist here, and certainly not the model files).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

     hi,Andrew

    when i running the input.scs from the command line,it shows below:

    [zxd@zxd netlist]$ spectre input.scs
    cpp: unrecognized option `-$'

    Internal error found in spectre.  Please run `getSpectreFiles' or send the
            netlist, the spectre log file, the behavioral model files, and any
            other information that can help identify the problem to
            support@cadence.com.
        Segmentation fault.
    /usr/eda/cadence/MMSIM61/tools/bin/spectre: line 180: 16660 Aborted     /usr/eda/cadence/MMSIM61/tools.lnx86/spectre/bin/spectre input.scs

    And the line 180 of the input.scs is:

    166      if [ $dplgen -eq 1 ];
    167      then
    168         args=""
    169         for a in $@;
    170         do
    171         case $a in
    172                 \#dpl      ) a="\\#dpl";;
    173                 \#ahdlfile ) a="\\#ahdlfile";;
    174             esac
    175             args="$args $a"
    176             shift
    177     done
    178     eval ${APPBINPATH}/${PROGRAM} $args
    179   else
    180     eval ${APPBINPATH}/${PROGRAM} "$@"
    181   fi
    182 else
    183   exec ${APPBINPATH}/${PROGRAM} "$@"
    184 fi
    185
    186 EXIT_VAL=$?

     do you know what does this mean?

    Re: problem with mmsim61 Reply

    That's line 180 of the spectre script, not line 180 of the input.scs (at least I hope so). All that says is that the script failed because the executable it launched failed.

    Doesn't tell us anything more. Sorry... A testcase would be needed, most likely (at least seeing the input.scs, as I said earlier).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Re: problem with mmsim61 Reply

    Also, the

    cpp: unrecognized option `-$'

    is a known issue in MMSIM6.1 and is fixed in one of the later ISRs - this was over two years ago.

    You really do need to upgrade your version of Spectre.  I recommend contacting Cadence Customer Support on this.  That is the appropriate place to troubleshoot issues like this.

    best regards,

    Tawna
