VHDL2001 import to cadence (protected type) Reply

    Hello all,

I am trying to import VHDL files (VHDL2001) to cadence. I have the latest version of ncvhdl which is 8.2. I have just installed updates for ius package. but still the code is not getting imported into cadence.

This code contains "protected type" constructs, which was introduced in VHDL2001. Import summary gives statement like it needs ";" after type abc is protected, which is not required as per VHDL 2001 syntax, and several such errors.

DOES ANYONE KNOWS ABOUT "PROTECTED TYPES" IN VHDL GETTING IMPORTED TO CADENCE?

     Thank you,

From a quick search, I don't believe protected types are supported yet in ncvhdl. So even if you could import them, you wouldn't be able to simulate with them anyway...

But don't take my word for it - I don't really know VHDL very well (I'm an analog guy). What you should do is contact Cadence customer support and request support for this, ideally with some examples to illustrate why you need this.

    Best Regards,

    Andrew.
