Defining of planes such as +ve or -ve. Reply

     Hello everyone,

How can we define a power or ground plane whether it is positive or negative? I normally define power or ground planes as -ve. But i saw in some reference boards, which were defined as +ve. What is the main difference between these two +ve and -ve planes? Which one is best to define?

    Any reply will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Shiva.

    Hi Shiva,

As I understood, -ve plane is transparent, it needs les memory space, so while opening a file it takes only less time to load the file, compared to +ve planes.

I prefer -ve plane because of this.

But, I too have seen boards with +ve planes, (I was so uncomfortable working with that) designed by experts (I think). I did n't understand the reason; may be some fabrication people prefers +ve planes.

expecting for further discussions ....let us share our knowledge.

    thanks & regards

    rinj

    Hello Rinj,

Thanks for your reply. I also faced the problem. When i working with planes the tool always goes slow. I don't know why it is like it.

All are welcome to discuss about this topic.

    Thanks,
    Shiva.
