2008 CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

CDNLive! Israel, held November 4 at the Avenue Convention and Events Center near Ben Gurion International Airport., drew 680 attendees from outside Cadence. A 17-year tradition of Cadence
user events in Israel.

Keynotes by Ted Vucurevitch Cadence CTO and Mike Muller, ARM CTO

Ted Vucurevich, Cadence CTO, talked about the new challenges in the electronics world and how some Cadence innovations can help the designer community address those challenges and bring design ideas to life. Vucurevich mentioned the C-to-Silicon Compiler as a new design paradigm. He also described how ChipEstimate is addressing the optimization of device planning and introduced Hosted Design Solutions for addressing multi-site design teams. Mike Muller, ARM CTO, presented his vision of the future of embedded devices running on processors such as ARM's. A wide array of hand-held devices will bring portability to some of the functions currently only available on computers. Cadence and its customers presented on the four main tracks of verification. Custom IC, digital, and Silicon, Package and Board. A new fifth track on "Cross Platform" highlighted the broad Cadence technology portfolio that can cover multi-disciplinary topics such as low power, MsoT, and DFM.

Best paper award

The Best Customer Paper Award went to Ilan Sever, from SandLinks. SandLinks developed a Mixed-Signal-RF System on Chip, whose digital block was implemented using the Common Power Format (CPF) enabled by the Cadence® Low-Power Solution. Our customer achieved key requirements for this chip, including ultra-low-power consumption and longer battery life for the active RFID tag.

Exhibitors

Included EDAis, ARM, ARC, AST, Equipic (Chatered), S3, Avnet Asic, Artec, Tower Semiconductor, Virage Logic, MIPS, Circuitec, Sumgir, and five verification alliances companies.

Customers Presentations

The tracks were Verification, Analog/RF, Digital Design, PCB and Cross Platform. Companies that participated were Corrigent, Siano, EDAis, Zoran, ST Microelectronics, Avnet Asic, Intel, Sandlinks, Ruhama, Efi Largo, Circuitec, and Oranit PCB. On the cross platform track, we had round tables where attendees could hear about Cadence technologies and see demos on the following tools; Verification IP’s & eMGR, IFV, Low Power (CPF), Mixed language & Intelligen, C-to-Silicon and Analog & RF Design, preceded by Cadence presentations.
