2009 Conference Highlights
CDNLive! Israel, held on Sept. 10 at the Avenue Convention and Events Center near Ben Gurion International Airport, drew 775 attendees mostly from Israel, but also from the UK, Denmark, France, Netherlands, Taiwan, Romania, and Serbia.
General manager welcomes audience
Moshe Zalcberg, General Manager of Cadence Israel, welcomed the attendees while stating that "over the years, CDNLive! has become the key conference in Israel, where Cadence, customers, and Ecosystem Partners get together."
In his keynote, President and CEO Lip-Bu Tan shared his insights on "Succeeding in Today's Dynamic Electronics Industry."
The industry keynote was presented by Douglas Pattullo, Director of Technical Support for TSMC Europe. He reviewed the semiconductor market trends, and the need for all players in the ecosystem to "Collaborate to Innovate," in his words.
Pattullo also mentioned the work being done jointly by TSMC and Cadence to support customers' innovation and announced the qualification of physical verification solutions for certain TSMC technologies.
Executive track
In parallel with the technical conference, this CDNLive! also featured an executive track, attended by 70 executives of Israel's leading semiconductor companies, as well as several representatives of the venture capital community.
Technical committee and best paper
Key to the success of this user conference was the formation of a Technical Committee for the first time. They advised and reviewed the different papers submitted by customers to the conference.
The Technical Committee was chaired by Dudi Ben-Auen from Intel Israel, and included representatives from Altair – Eli Zyss, Broadlight - Igor Elkanovich ;DSPG - Eli Assoolin, Freescale - Osnat Arad, Sandlinks - Ilan Sever, Siano - Neil Feldman, Wintegra - Yoram Yeivin, and Zoran- Nir Sever; they were joined by Cadence staffers Yoav Levy, Addy Elbaz, Shawn Ruby, Rafy Diaz, and Shmulik Pizanty.
The Best Paper award went to "Breaking the Sound Barrier with Cadence 6.13," presented by Shay Diller of Zoran on high end audio CODEC design challenges.
