Tuesday 29th April
Cadence President and CEO Mike Fister started the second day with a keynote discussing aspects of the Advanced Node campaign, in which Cadence solutions enable customers to complete the latest designs on deadline at 65nm and below.
The guest keynote was an interview with Prof. Dr. Mario Theissen, BMW Motorsport Director, in which he described the latest technology going into the BMW Sauber Formula 1 race car and talked about the collaboration between Cadence and BMW.
During the keynote session, Mike Fister also took the opportunity to congratulate the winner of the European Electronic Design Contest for Students. The first prize in the undergraduate category went to Lukasz Kotynia from Technical University of Lodz, Poland, and in the PhD team Joachim Becker and Fabian Henrici from Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg, Germany, were recognized for their excellence. The competition was launched at last year's CDNLive! EMEA user conference.
The rest of the morning and early afternoon consisted of a multitude of customer and Cadence presentations in six Technical Tracks on Custom Design, Digital Implementation, Advanced Verification and System Design / Verification, Silicon-Package-Board Co-Design (Allegro/OrCAD), Logic Design and a Special Interest Track.
During the afternoon Cadence Technology Demonstrations of the latest Cadence products, flows, and methodologies were shown in each of the tracks.
Executive and press attendees attended the Executive Track and the Press Track.
The day concluded with a party in the BMW Pavilion in the Munich city centre with live music and some exciting PC racing games.
