MindTree Ltd., a global IT and R&D Services Company, and the Power Forward Initiative (PFI) today announced that MindTree has joined the Power Forward Initiative and will be offering a Common Power Format (CPF)-enabled low-power flow to its design services customers. With the addition of MindTree, the PFI continues to increase its momentum and now has 27 members.
As a design services company, MindTree has adopted the Cadence® Design Systems, Inc. (NasdaqGS: CDNS - News) Low-Power Solution which is designed to increase productivity, manage design complexity, and shorten time to market. MindTree, a leading provider of complete solutions in the ASIC and IC design services, assists customers designing ICs for communications and consumer applications.
"Low-power design capability is extremely important to our customers," said S.N. Padmanabhan, senior vice president of R&D Services at MindTree. "A large percentage of designs coming to us are targeted for communications and consumer products requiring require low-power implementations. CPF provides the mechanism for clear communication of low-power intent between the customer and MindTree; this helps us deliver high-quality low-power solutions to our customers."
"We are delighted to have MindTree join the Power Forward Initiative and look forward to working with them to make low-power design a success for the electronics industry as a whole and to their customers in particular," said Pankaj Mayor, group director of Business Enablement at Cadence Design Systems, Inc. "We applaud MindTree's leadership; it is critical for the semiconductor industry to work closely together to advance low-power technologies, design, and production solutions."
CPF is an Si2-approved standard format for specifying power-saving techniques early in the design process -- enabling sharing and reuse of low-power intelligence throughout the design process. The Cadence Low-Power Solution is the industry's first complete flow that integrates logic design, verification, and implementation with the Si2-standard Common Power Format.
About Power Forward Initiative
The Power Forward Initiative, which has more than 25 member companies, is an industry initiative sponsored by Cadence Design Systems and has the goal of enabling the design and production of more power-efficient electronic devices. The initiative includes companies representing a broad cross section of the design chain including system, semiconductor, foundry, IP, EDA, ASIC and design services companies. CPF was contributed by Cadence to the Si2 Low Power Coalition in December 2006 and CPF 1.0 is now available as an Si2 standard to the industry at large. The Initiative has also published A Practical Guide to Low-Power Design - User experience with CPF which is aimed at educating the broad design marketplace in utilizing advanced low-power design techniques. The Guide is available free of charge at www.powerforward.org.
