Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CDNS) today announced the promotion of several vice presidents who have played key leadership roles across all functions within the company. The promotions reflect the important focus that is being placed upon building an increasingly customer-focused company, developing employees and driving operational efficiency.

Bill Porter, who joined Cadence in 1994 as corporate controller and has served as senior vice president and chief financial officer since 1999, was promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer. Porter is responsible for managing the company's global finance organization, including finance, operations, information technology, and real estate.
In the second of two EVP promotions, Jim Miller was promoted to executive vice president, Products and Technologies Organization. Miller manages the global Cadence research and development organization responsible for delivering core (digital, analog, RF, mixed signal) and design for manufacturability (DFM) adjacency products and technologies. Since joining Cadence in 2004 with more than 20 years experience in engineering and management, Miller has provided instrumental leadership at Cadence in defining and restructuring the product and technology innovation functional organization for improved effectiveness.
In recognition of the impact that she has had on human resources management since joining the company, Debi Muchow was promoted to senior vice president, Global Human Resources. Muchow brought a strategic focus to functionalizing the company's global operations as well as to the development and retention of employees.
Continuing the drive to a customer-focused organization, the Marketing function saw promotions of Kelly Perey to corporate vice president, Vertical Marketing, and Steve Glaser to corporate vice president, Cadence Verification Division Marketing. These promotions recognize the tremendous contributions that these leaders have made in defining and driving Cadence vertical markets and enterprise approach to the verification adjacency, respectively.
Internal technical innovation at Cadence is driven by the unique depth of industry-recognized and experienced technologists and engineers throughout the company. The following individuals are role models for technical excellence in the company and were promoted to Engineering Fellow: Ping Tseng, Fellow, CVA; Ken Millan, Fellow, Berkeley Labs; Amos Noy, Fellow, Verification Solutions; Denis Baylor, Fellow, Synthesis. Demonstrating further breadth of talent and achievement in engineering leadership, Mitch Weaver was promoted to corporate vice president, Systems and Functional Verification Operations.
Finally, Craig Johnson has been promoted to corporate vice president, Strategy & Planning, and James Haddad to corporate vice president, Corporate Finance. These individuals have provided strong strategic counsel in corporate strategy and treasury planning respectively and have also driven excellent operational implementation.
All promotions are effective April 1, 2006.
