Bangalore’s Top Companies Come Together for the 12th 5Cs – Corporate Citizenship Challenge for the Cause of Children
Cadence presents a day-long sporting event in support of the Concern India Foundation

Bangalore, 08 Feb 2012

Concern India Foundation and Cadence announced today that the 12th Corporate Citizenship Challenge for the Cause of Children, or 5Cs as it is popularly known, will take place on February 11 at Clarks Exotica Resort, Devanahalli, Bangalore. This sporting event will raise funds to educate and improve the lives of underprivileged children through programs supported by Concern India Foundation.

Speaking about the event, Jaswinder Ahuja, Corporate Vice President and Managing Director, Cadence Design Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd., said, “After an encouraging start last year, we are pleased to have the 5Cs back in Bangalore. The 5Cs brings together like-minded companies to raise funds to provide education for disadvantaged children in India and we thank everyone who has taken part in this worthy endeavor.”

Kavita Shah, CEO, Concern India Foundation, went on to say, “The Concern India Foundation is happy to join with Cadence for the Corporate Citizenship Challenge for the Cause of Children. Appropriately named, the 5Cs is a commendable example of how companies, their employees and a development organization can work together to make a difference for the most vulnerable section of our society.”

The 5Cs started in Delhi with a small volunteer group of Cadence India employees. Today the event unites some of the best-known companies in India for a day of competitive sports. Since it began 11 years ago, 5Cs has raised over 3.5 crores to help ensure a more just world for India's children. Prominent citizens who have supported the 5Cs in the past include Abhinav Bindra, Vijender Singh, Delhi’s Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and First Lady Mrs. Gursharan Kaur.

At the Bangalore 5Cs, twelve of the city’s leading corporations will send teams of up to 50 members each to compete in multiple sports including cricket, table tennis, badminton, basket ball and throw ball. At the competition’s conclusion, the company with the most medals will be declared the overall champion.

The Organizers
The event is a collaboration between Concern India Foundation and Cadence Design Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS).

About Concern India Foundation
Concern India Foundation is a registered, non-profit charitable trust working towards its objective of Helping People Help Themselves by making the disadvantaged self-reliant and thereby enabling them to lead a life of dignity. It was set up in 1991 to extend financial and non financial support to grass root programmes working in the areas of Education, Health and Community Development. Our support through these issues helps us reach out to a wider section of beneficiaries such as children, youth, the specially challenged, women and the elderly. We strongly believe that the disadvantaged need opportunities, not charity and our focus is to bring about a positive change in the lives of the most vulnerable people of our society. With about 20 years of experience in the field we have a strong identifying, monitoring and evaluating process of the programmes to ensure a judicious disbursal of the funds and resources.
