spectrerf harmonic balance

  • Re: For LNA design, how to get the transistor size (BJT) for the Ropt?

Hi Aba, If you are new to SpectreRF, the first thing I recommend you do is go through Simulating Low Noise Amplifiers section of Appendix A of the SpectreRF User Guide. You will need to have an account on Cadence Online Support ( http://support.cadence.com ) to download the gpdk180 required to simulate...

  • Issue with Envelope analysis

Hi, I am simulating the I/Q upconversion using port through envelope analysis. The I input pwl file has samples of a cosine of frequency=5MHz and timestep=0.00125us. The Q input pwl file has samples of value=0 and timestep=0.00125us. The original I, Q pwl files have data upto 2ms. I have attached the...

  • Re: VCO: PSS and pnoise analysis and Numerical Errors

Hi Sivaramakrishna, If this is a strongly nonlinear circuit (e.g. ring oscillator), then pss-shooting is appropriate. Otherwise, I would use hb (harmonic balance). Please check out your setup - very important to get correct results. In my blog: SpectreRF Tutorials and Appnotes... Shhhh... We Have a NEW...

  • Re: Noise Figure of an upconverting mixer under input IF signal

I recommend taking a look at the Appendix A of the SpectreRF User Guide (version 12.1.1 or later). There is a more thorough and up to date example of simulating a transmit mixer. Please use that instead. Here is the link to the appendix. http://support.cadence.com/wps/mypoc/cos?uri=deeplinkmin:DocumentViewer;src...

  • Re: What is the use of No of harmonics option in PSS form

Hi yxue, In harmonic balance, the number of harmonics chosen does affect accuracy. There is a blog and a solution on this: Here is the Blog: Guidelines for Maximizing Speed vs Accuracy for Harmonic Balance - Part 2. http://www.cadence.com/Community/blogs/rf/archive/2011/11/01/guidelines-for-maximizing...

  • Re: IP3, IP2 simulation in cadence

Hi Julia, I assume that you are simulating a receiver rather than a transmitter. If your circuit has a divider, you may want to look at the following solution on Cadence Online Support : 11571722 ( COS ) Guidelines for simulating frequency dividers in spectreRF The shooting engine is designed for strongly...
