  • Create a guard ring that intersects

Hi, I have a skill script that can create a guard ring.I can use the mouse to select the points to place the guard ring, but I cannot make that guard ring intersect. Is there any workaround for that, please let me know. I am using rodCreatePath, function in my script to create it. Thanks Vikram

  • Saving signals inside schematic pcell?

Hi all, I have a schematic pcell that represents an array of devices, parametrised by the number of devices in the array. Generation is fine, netlisting is good, but I'm having difficulty convincing ADE to save signals associated with the internal devices... It's actually rather puzzling: I have...

  • SKILL code to alter contact size

Hi, I streamed in GDS from 0.35um into 0.18um process and like to have a script to automatically shrink each contact size (contact width/length) to meet the 0.18um DRC. Does anybody know how to do this in batch with SKILL command? Thanks!

  • SKILL for the Skilled: How to Shuffle a List

The previous post of SKILL for the Skilled presented some ways to systematically visit all permutations of a list. As noted, the time to iterate through all permutations of a large list is prohibitive. If the goal is to find a permutation that meets some criteria then it may work perfectly well to simply...

  • How to characterize Transistors for gm/Id based design.

Hi, Q1. Can someone give the circuit for characterizing Transistors for gm/Id based design, as I found different circuits in differrent websites. Also what size of W should be taken when generating plots as I am using 180nm Technology. Q2. I am able to plot fT vs gm/Id for single length after going to...

  • accessing db and executing SKILL from the Unix shell

I am trying to run some skill code to access db information from a bash script, but cannot get the script to run successfully. Can anyone describe the proper way to perform a simple db access from a shell? My attempt was somthing like this: #!/bin/bash ./start_cadence_virtuoso -nograph < find_coords...

  • extracted view simulation in OCEAN

Hello, Cadence community, A short question: has anyone tried to simulate extracted views and change them from the ocean environment? I have, but didn't succeed (I'm not new to OCEAN or SKILL, so if anyone has any solutions, the level of complexity doesn't matter)... If I understand correctly...

  • TSMC 3D-IC Reference Flow Supports 3D Die Stacking

An important milestone for any new semiconductor technology is the availability of a foundry EDA reference flow. Such a milestone occurred last week (Sept. 18, 2013) as Cadence and TSMC delivered the latest Cadence 3D-IC reference flow for true 3D die stacking (right). While there has been considerable...

  • Re: Change parameters in pcDefinePCell code body

Hi Rik, This is a case where CDF callbacks can be used to good effect - the PCell parameter would have an associated CDF parameter, and this parameter would have a callback so that when the value is entered/changed on a form (Edit Object Properties, Add Instance) the value is checked within the boundaries...

  • Re: What is the name of the schematic create menu

Hi Eyal, It is schAddMenu. You can find the menu names and content by doing something like the following: hiGetBannerMenus(hiGetCurrentWindow()) => (schematicTools schFileMenu10 schEditMenu schViewMenu schAddMenu ... Once you have the menu you can inspect the items, for example schAddMenu->? Hopefully...
