  • Slotted Through Hole for mounting appears filled instead of drilled

Hello. I am tryign to make a mechanical non-plated slotted through hole which will allow a device some 'wiggle room' while mounting it on a board. I can't seem to make the slotted through hole appear right in the artwork. It always appears as if it is filled. Below are pictures of how the...

  • Using Skill to create a Padstack with a Thermal subclass that has geometry set to "Flash"

Hi all, Trying to pick up Skill here on my own and I'm having a bit of difficulty trying to get a specific part of my code to work. I am writing a Skill program that will be able to automatically generate a padstack based off of a naming scheme. I have most of it figured out but I cannot get the...

  • Re: Connecting plated mounting holes to Planes

Thanks, the holes are not electrical symbols. They are mechnical symbols (MTG156) that I placed from the machanical parts list under the "place manually" menu.

  • Connecting plated mounting holes to Planes

Hello, I have plated mounting holes (MTG156) in my through hole board (ORCAD PCB Designer). I went to constraint manager and established a pin to shape spacing for all the signal nets. I have created a ground plane on the top layer and I want to connect to the plating of the mounting hole. How can I...

  • Re: Top layer Ground Planes

Thanks for the info. If I want the top layer ground plane a certain distance from the non-ground throughhole pin, do I increase the anitpad dimension in "modify design padstack " menu? I want to prevent potential arcing from a signal pin to a ground plane surrounding the throughhole signal...

  • Top layer Ground Planes

I am creating two ground planes on the top layer using Polygon shape, CLASS Etch, SUBCLASS-Top. I have routed the NON-ground nets on the bottom layer and left only the Ground nets for the TOP layer. Will the anitpad of the through-hole pins prevent the ground plane from connecting to the non-ground nets...

  • Symbols & Padstacks

Hello, I have a general question here. Say I am given a Symbol (.dra & .psm) to use in my design. I do not have the padstack used within this symbol (.pad). Am I still able to open the .dra file in PCB Editor? Can I use the symbol in Allegro? Can I pull the padstack file out of the symbol file somehow...
