  • Re: Mounting hole Centering
Great, and if you map those actions to funckeys  funckey m move funckey e show element You can really get going pretty fast. What I should do is write a little skill function that will just copy the center coordinates directly to the clipboard without having to do the show element.

  • Re: problems opening STEP file in solidworks
Update, I had some intermittent success, when I made sure that my by board file units matched all of my step file units. ie I matched standard to standard and metric to metric.

  • Re: Mounting hole Centering
Here is a manual way that I do it. If it wasn't filled during the import you should have arc segments otherwise you will have a shape. If you do a "show element" on your dxf geometry a window will pop up showing you a link for "center-xy"  ie (-2100, 0.52) Click that coordinate and your view will snap to that ...

  • Shape void element backoff
I used to be able to build complicated static shapes inside the editor by using the shape void element tool. I could place a block of etch and go to town voiding it manually with other shapes. This of course required that I set the shape to shape constraint to 0 so that the voided shape wouldn't grow by the constraint every time the ...

  • Re: problems opening STEP file in solidworks
I'm fighting the exact same problem, in solidworks 2012 as well. I have another tool called Geomagic Design that can't handle it either.

  • Edit Net Properties line style by group
I have a bunch of nets that had there line style and line width manually changed, by right clicking each net and hitting edit net properties. I would like to now go in and change them all back to default. I thought I could group edit the net properties but it won't let me. I also tried to do a Flat Net Properties export and modified the ...

  • Re: How to signify A and B parts in composite symbol
I don't think the tool can understand multiple refdes tags for what it thinks is a single component. Since they are actually two separately placed components from a manufacturing standpoint, my preference is to manage them separately, and thus control the part relationship at the board level. You could build in alignment aid in both ...

  • Re: How to properly maintain a Footprint Libray in Allegro
All your pads go into one big folder, psm and dra into another. I break up footprints logically by type e.g. resistors, caps, ICs so on so forth. Then into the IPC least most nominal. Just point your editor to your main repository of footprints. I generaly refrain from placing symbols in the board file ...

  • Re: Orcad Capture and Layout for Windows7
Win7 professional machines have the ability to run Win xp as a virtual machine (free too). You take a hit on graphical performance, but that is how I use my non compatible versions of autocad and I can get by.

  • Re: How do I add tear drops on my flex circuits board?
It is my understanding that automatic "tear drop" shaping of the the area where the trace enters a circular pad isn't available in 16.3. However, the newly released 16.5  has a new feature called "Trace Tapering. I copied the following from the whats new section in 16.5  Trace tapering is the gradual reduction ...
