  • Re: Capture CIS ORCIS-6182 I am not sure what this means
Sorted it - the refdes was undefined in the .dbc file. On running part update the tool reported that the part 'could not be found' when in fact the part has an illegal refdes prefix. I have added it to the 'allowed prefixes' and now all works fine.

  • Re: Capture CIS ORCIS-6182 I am not sure what this means
We are seeing the same behaviour. I can place a part from the database then run Part Manager and get this error. It can't find the part that it has just found and placed! I have, so far, found only a few parts that have this problem, and it seems to follow part types, not individual components in the db. This was using 16.5, trying 16.6 ...

  • Translating PCBs from Altium to Allegro?
Hi all, what is the preferred way to get a PCB layout from Altium to Allegro? I thought the path would be to export to PCAD in ASCII format from Altium and then import to Allegro using the built-in PCAD translator. I can't get this to work though. When I try this Altium exports an ascii *.pcb* file, and the Allegro PCAD (PDIF) ...

  • Re: Can 15.x designs be saved as 14.x???
Hi Steve, I think you are right - worth a try though! Looks like we're designing this board in 14.2, might be a shock after 16.2!!! C

  • Re: Can 15.x designs be saved as 14.x???
Thanks Steve. Thing is, when 16.0 came out everyone was cautious as there is no way back from 16.x to 15.x. However, when 15.0 came out I don't remember the same issue existing. I seem to remember immediately jumping from 13.6 to 14.0. Maybe I was young, reckless and wild back then(!) I know 15.7 allows you to export as 15.0, but did 15.0 ...

  • Can 15.x designs be saved as 14.x???
My memory isn't good enough for this, hopefully someone out there knows... I have an Allegro 15.7 PCB design and need to export to 14.2. For some reason I seem to remember early 15.x releases having an export to 14.x... Any help much appreciated! C

  • Re: xtalk simulation failed
Hi Upen, What are your stimulus and preference settings for your xtalk simulation? Some combinations will prevent the report from displaying the results, and instead cause "NA" to be displayed. For instance, if the stimulus is "Pulse" but "cycles" is set to "3" then this will cause "NA" in the ...

  • Re: Importing a Mentor Neutral File into Allegro???
Hi AcAe - if I had the Boardstation layout files I could translate them directly from within Allegro PCB using the Mentor translator. This does not require 3rd party tools. Unfortuntely I have not got these files!

Thanks for the link Quantum CAD. They certainly look like they've got all bases covered... providing it involves CADSTAR!

  • Re: how to draw a line in Concept HDL?
Peter, IMHO stick with DEHDL and try and forget how you would have done things in OrCAD! As with most high-end CAD packages, 'it's a nice place to live, but you wouldn't want to visit there'!!! Once you're over the learning curve you won't regret switching tools. I would have thought that your 100 page schematic drawn by ...
