  • Re: copy between designs?
Frame? Not sure what you are referring to as a frame? All depends on what class or subclass you want? If it's a drawing format you could import the .dxf file into a .dra and create it as a .fsm. You could always create a .bsm and load the dxf one time then put it in your library and you could place it as a mechanical part at the board level. ...

  • Re: INCREMENTAL_REFDES_CONCEPT HDL
Do an attribute on the component and change the $LOCATION to LOCATION, then edit the text for the ref des to update the text. Wondering if you want to have incremental ref des assigning why don't you just place the component with the $location=? and let the packager assign the reference designator? Much easier that way, unless you're ...

  • Room properties and IDF import poll
I'm a bit curious as to how other people do certain things. First of all......how many people require their logic engineers to assign room properties to every single component on an entire design? And, secondly, How many people require their mechanical designers to supply an IDF or .emn file with all of the pre placed components having ...

  • Re: stepped bore for mechanical hole
Your initial definition I thought was for 3 different diameters, this view only looks like two. Either way I think that unfortunately the padstack editor is not set up to handle multiple drill sizes. What I thing that you will need to do (unless someone else has a better idea) it to define your padstack using the smallest diameter as a thru hole ...

  • Re: Two Layer Board with copper fill on top and bottom; Problems with Void touching Shape
You have to add the two ground layers to your fim files. Have you done that? For these film files you also need to determine whether you added your planes as a negative or a positive in the cross section, that also needs to be reflected in the film file.

  • Re: Change the grid size while routing in Allegro with a hotkey, Keep routing at the same time
Anyone have one that would rotate components in 90 degree increments and/or mirror while the component is in manual place mode on your cursor?

  • Re: import .STEP file in PCB editor 16.5?
Thank you all, your information was a great help. The process looks a little tedious, I'll give it a shot.

  • Re: import .STEP file in PCB editor 16.5?
Have the latest hotfix for 16.6 ... 009 and have seen no documentation or notice of importing STEP files. I too saw a demo at CDN Live in March and thought it would be out soon. Anyone have anymore info on this? Or know where they've hidden it?

  • Re: Open two boards in one drawing to compare fit?
One other option would be to do a "create detail" of the board you want to overlay at a 1/1 scale, you could then do a clip file of that and make a bsm out of the clip file. You could then place the bsm on the other board and move it around to line up whatever it is you need to line up. Just an option.

  • Re: Connecting Dynamic shape and SMD pads of same net
Your idea might be ok as long as you realize that every pin assoicated with that shape will have a full contact thermal. If you only want one or two connections as full contact there is a property that you can attach to the individual pin called DYN_THERMAL_CON_TYPE, just set the value to FULL_CONTACT and that one pin will be full contact only.
