  • Re: How to assign/update an etch objects' net
I keep running into this because any time that I move a via away from the trace it's connected to, it loses its net association. Perhaps instead of going back after the fact to re-assign the net name there is a setting that causes objects to retain their original net association even if you move them and/or they come into contact with an ...

  • Re: How to assign VIA to a net name?
I already had posted it as a new question, just the snippet you moved for me is a bit incomplete. I really appreciate the guidance though, and I apologize for my ignorance of the various Cadence tools / threads. I know it's important to keep things organized to get the best help, I will aim to do better in the future. Cheers Raylon

  • How to assign/update an etch objects' net
Unaware I was in the wrong forum, I've been posting this PCB layout question in the Digital Implementation forum http://www.cadence.com/Community/forums/p/23378/1322026.aspx#1322026  I am trying to take a group of pre-selected vias and change the net that they are on. My inquiry is as follows:  Apparently you have to be in General ...

  • Re: Ratsnest minimization length
Is there an option setting for making the ratsnest 100% straight all the time? I am seeing often that some of the rats zig-zag off the origin and destination pin and this can sometimes be visually confusing.

Ahh, yes I found the thread and didn't realize that "DI" was not appropriate. Since I am using Cadence PCB Editor 16.6, and this is a PCB Editor question I assumed it would be relevant - definitely my mistake! So there are more than 1 PCB layout tools by Cadence? Sheesh!

  • Re: How to assign VIA to a net name?
Thanks again for working with me on this :)  Screenshot shows post command entry response and my cursor hovering over a via on the net GND  You're right though, in most cases I wont want to change very single via of a certain net, but my hope is once I figure this out, I can select vias with a different method and still apply the ...

  • Re: How to assign VIA to a net name?
I tried using vias on GND as an example my entry was: editSelectVia -nets GND The response from the system was:  E - Command not found: editSelectVia -nets GND   Though I would be making progress if I could get that to work, I don't really want to change every single via of a net to a new net, just want to be able to select some ...

  • Re: How to assign VIA to a net name?
Thanks for the tips Kari, but I am still missing something  Can you tell me how to interpret the lingo such as what you wrote "editSelectVia -nets oldNet" Does this mean to type a command in the command line? Or does this mean to use the menus? Is there somewhere else I should be putting this text string? I ask because I've ...

That does it, I figured there was something simple. Thanks Mike

  • Defining Trace Width Behavior
Is it possible to set some kind of rule or option that when I begin a new trace from an existing trace, that the width is naturally the width of the existing trace, instead of the last width I typed into the options panel?
