  • Re: help with board outline gerber
Thanks oldmouldy, I did have something in Manufacturing->Photoplot_Outline - I had never deleted it from previous attempts and didn't realize that it might cause problems.  I also created a new subclass to use when pulling in the newly created outline.  One or both of those actions apparently resolved the issue I was having - I ...

  • Re: help with board outline gerber
Thanks for the detailed and quick response Mike.   I tried your modified procedure, but I find that I am still unable to import the generated file in order to review it (maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere else entirely?)  In fact, when I open the "Load Cadence Artwork" window, I can select "Board Geometry" ...

  • help with board outline gerber
Hi everyone,   I'm having a great deal of difficulty completing/verifying what should be an easy task - I would like to generate a .art (gerber) file that describes the board outline.  In this case, I just want to generate a simple rectangular outline.  I'm using 16.5.  What I have done: -turn off all layers in ...

  • Re: help deleting Package Geometry -> Assembly_Top shape in PCB Designer 16.5
Thanks for your help - I think part of the problem was that I was selecting the item first, then doing Edit->Delete instead of choosing Edit->Delete first, then selecting the item. Anyway, the item in question is gone now and I'm pretty happy about that.  Thanks!

  • Re: schematics don't fit on board, design improvement needed [SCHEMATICS]
For item 2, if cost is not an issue and your manufacturing solution supports it, you should use the lowest case size feasible.  For capacitors, you should confirm that capacitance, tolerance,  and appropriate voltage rating are supported in the smaller case size.  For resistors, you should confirm the power rating and tolerance is ...

  • help deleting Package Geometry -> Assembly_Top shape in PCB Designer 16.5
Hi everyone, I have a couple of rectangles in my design that are Package Geometry->Assembly_Top class/subclass.  I'm not sure how they got there - I may have inadvertantly copied part of an old part that has since been deleted.  Anyway, I can highlight the shape in question, and I can then see an option to move or copy ...

Not sure how practical any of these suggestions might be given the number of unknowns in your situation, but they've got to be more feasible than having parts hanging off of the board.  This might not get you to where you need to be, but it might help: 1) Drop the silkscreen.  Refer to an assembly document for placement info.  ...

  • Re: how to make an offset solder mask relative to PCB land?
Thanks for the quick reply - I'm actually a little embarrassed at how simple that was after going back and checking.  Not sure how I missed that before.  Anyway, thanks again for the help. Related - since my pin/solder mask was no longer symmetric, I had to rotate half of the pins on my device after updating the padstack.  ...

  • how to make an offset solder mask relative to PCB land?
Hello, I am trying to create a padstack for an LGA package, and the manufacturer suggests an offset solder mask relative to the PCB land - in this particular case they recommend a solder mask opening equal to the PCB land length + .3mm, with the solder mask extending .05mm beyond the land on the inner edge, and .25mm beyond the land on the outer ...

  • Re: how to turn on Bubble and shove via
Thanks for the response.  Selecting the trace in question and issuing the slide command on the command line allowed the bubble menu to stay "on" to allow changes to the bubble setting.  I'm not typically a command line user - to be honest I didn't know there was a "slide" command - so I would just grab the ...
