• Re: Text on footprints
Welcome to the wonderful world of learning a new package! I have been using Orcad products since they first came out in the 80's and the transition to PCB Editor really taxed my patience, but I am now up to speed, but still learning. That being said, I would strongly suggest attending a training seminar. I found the three days I spent ...

• Re: Problems logging into forum
Thanks Roger for letting me know I'm not the only one. It is a shame as I do find this forum a good resource, but it can be very frustrating at times when you have a question and can't log in! Tom

• Re: RE: Why cadence graphic render so slow in windows 7
I gained some speed by disabling any screen savers and desktop background pictures. Running the plain windows blue background gives me the best video performance on my Windows 7 machine. Tom

• Problems logging into forum
Does anybody else ever run into login problems? I can be shut out for a day or weeks at a time. I have been in contact with tech support, but not much help there. Yesterday I was able to log on and post a question as well as answer a few. This morning I went to log in and either got sent to the Cadence home page or an alert page telling me ...

• Re: Getting renamed ref des into Capture
Hi Steve,  I made sure to sync the files by generating a netlist and loading the logic before renaming the parts. I worked with tech support today and they were able to get my files to work on their computers, but I was still having issues. I ended up grabbing an old board file and running the same process on it and it worked. I then ...

• Re: Getting renamed ref des into Capture
Thanks for the link. I keep getting errors on the Capture side: I have rerun the netlist a few times with no errors. The board is completely routed and free of DRC's.   #549 ERROR(SPCODD-549): No physical part found for COMP_DEVICE_TYPE=TEST_POINT_0_TESTPOINT_50PAD_28, regenerate the netlist to sync with Allegro ...

• Getting renamed ref des into Capture
I have sorted through and figured out how to rename the ref des on a board. How do I import this info into Capture now? It only creates a .log file, not a .swp file which Capture is looking for. Renaming the .log file to .swp causes an error on import into Capture. Using latest 16.6 version.  Tom
OK, last hope is that it's the single-click that's not enabled. Get into Placement Edit, right-click in the background canvas, Customize>Enable Single Click Execution, now the symbols in the canvas should get stuck to the mouse when you click on them.
I'm baaack....... ...

• Re: Placement Edit not working?
Placement edit shows in lower right window. The only message I get is "last pick xxxx......" I can move the part by using the "move" option vs placement edit which makes me think it is not a issue of the part being fixed.

• Re: Placement Edit not working?
OM, Not working meaning that I select placement edit, I select "symbol" in the find window, I click on the part I want to move, the part highlights but I can not move it. Mind you, I just finished up a board last week with 700 parts on it and did not have any issues with placing / moving any part using this method.  Tom
