  • Re: Centering a PAC around a PSS oscillator outcome
D'oh! Andrew, I should probably go home and have some rest :) I was choosing a 'guess' in the PSS which was so close to the actual frequency, that I could not spot the difference and I thought it was using 'my guess' instead of the proper one. Then, the fact that when using relative you specify your frequencies ...

  • Centering a PAC around a PSS oscillator outcome
Hi All, I would like to run a Periodic AC analysis (PAC) at frequencies around a carrier not known a priori. That is, I have an oscillator whose frequency - of course - is to be determined by simulation. The natural way of simulating an autonomous system and get this information is with the Periodic Steady State (PSS) engine. Around the ...

  • Re: Working around lack of sweeps in MC runs
Andrew, there is an output called like this among the ENV offer. I am hopefully attaching a snapshot of what I mean. BTW, is there a way to have images displayed inline without resorting to some img hosting? I mean, upload them and reference them from within the post editor? Cheers, Michele

  • Re: Working around lack of sweeps in MC runs
Thanks Frank! Interesting since I do have some HDL in my test bench. Anyhow, it looks like the issue is in the retrieval of waveforms from ADEXL GUI. A simple right-click and plot yields the following: WARNING (OCN-6038): Results envlp are not available for /myPath/simulation/myCell/adexl_MC/results/data/MonteCarlo.0/psf/myCell. Use results() ...

  • Re: Working around lack of sweeps in MC runs
Hi Andrew, just switched to MMSIM13.10.127 And I checked, APS or Spectre makes no difference. Modulated Frequency is just not there. I look forward to hearing about your checks. Another thing: I ran a MC for a single point overnight, saving data to allow family plots. 200 points of an ENV simulation. The whole simulation folder weights ...

  • Re: Working around lack of sweeps in MC runs
Hi Andrew, this is like a million times easier and more elegant! Many thanks for the tip, I did not know of this feature of the corners. Now, I just have to understand why the MC run did not preserve my modulated freq out of the ENV simulation :( I had saved data for family plots and all the rest. I have a feeling that this is related to ...

  • Working around lack of sweeps in MC runs
Hi all, I need to run some MonteCarlo experiments on a circuit, while sweeping some of its parameters. However, this is not possible within the current ADEXL (BTW, why?) I am not very SKILLed...so here's where I need your help. The sweep space is not small, spanning some 90 pts, so the idea I come up with is to use some command line ...

  • Re: Plotting gm Vs. time from PSS simulation (6.1.5-64b.500.11)
LOL! Do you think you could start something if I attached the netlist...well..stripped of the actual devices and just options and simulations? I'd be more than happy to do that :) Cheers, Michele

  • Re: Plotting gm Vs. time from PSS simulation (6.1.5-64b.500.11)
Thank you for fostering my growth Andrew ;-) ...And indeed, your netlist works like a charm! But what a crappy gm :-D I then tried to use ADE instead of ADEXL for my circuit, however the result is the same: I get a curve with Spectre only. APS gives a sort of DC value out. Same thing if I sim my circuit from the command line (now I'm a ...

Andrew, maybe I should add that I am doing all this from ADEXL I will later try the following: 1 - save the netlist you provided above under invpss.scs 2 - run the command 'spectre +aps invpss.scs' 3 - open the results in ViVa (that's going to be a journey..never used the sim from cmd line ;-P) Will keep you posted, M
