  • Re: How to do a plot in Cadence?
Hi Alex, You will need to create either a ~/.cdsplotinit file or ./.cdsplotinit (it could be in other locations too, depending on your search set up). Try running plotconfig from the command line.  The documentation has a section "Plotter Configuration User Guide" and there is a Quick Start section. Hopefully this helps? Good ...

  • Re: Generating ocean script in Linux terminal.
Hi, The "replay" file is just the CDS.log file that is generated when you go through the specific steps that you need to open the design etc. You can rename the file after the session is done, and then it can be "invoked" using the -replay command line option to Virtuoso. Hopefully this answers your ...

  • Re: How to read a text file in a VerilogA code
Hi Alifa, I believe it would be something like this:$fopen(fileName, "r")A quick look at the documentation tells you this (and also that the default mode is indeed "w"), I didn't check earlier... Regards, Lawrence.

  • Re: How to read a text file in a VerilogA code
Hi Alifa, When you use $fopen there is a second argument for the mode - I think that the default must be write (overwrite) and so you would need to specify read mode so that you don't clobber the file contents and so that you are able to read from the file.  I have not tried your example, but you may need to adjust the pattern to cope ...

  • Re: Pcell Creation
Hi bsrin, It sounds like you are trying to create a graphical PCell - this is not really recommended these days - it would be better to create the PCell as a SKILL PCell.  SKILL Pcells are much more flexible, allowing more complex structures which are easier to maintain and debug than an 'equivalent' graphical PCell would be (if that ...

  • Re: Instantiate a device with terminal names (SKILL)
Hi Pietro, I don't have an exact example to hand, but the code section below may help you ... inst=dbCreateInst(cvId mosId nil '(0 0) "R0" 1) ;; put the wire stubs in yourself using schCreateWire in 'direct' mode ;; then create the labels - you might wish to attach the labels to the ;; wire segments, in which case, ...

  • Re: How to create pins of MOS transistor with fingers in pcell.
HI TiNat, I am assuming that since not all of your source and drain pins are being connected, that they are different terminals? Take a look at the dbSetTermMustJoin() SKILL function: dbSetTermMustJoin dbSetTermMustJoin( d_termId d_mustJoinTermId ) => t | nil Description Sets the connection status of the terminals ...

  • Re: Remembering form settings between invocations (and sessions)
Hi Ivars, I think it is failing because the .cdsenv file entries should have 5 elements for the file that is found by the search mechanism (CSF, for example) - this is different to the ~/.cdsenv file (for example) used to specify user defaults. Try adding an extra argument to the end of each line (perhaps just a t or nil) and see if that ...

  • Re: How to get correct ProcessID when launchipcBeginProcess ?
Hi Charley, Unless I am mistaken, runSimulation is a script which invokes spectre, so you are probably asking about the pid of the spectre process which was spawned from the script.  In that case, you might use something like pstree to obtain the pid of the process(es) that the script started, since from the SKILL side, ipcBeginProcess only ...

  • Re: Can we draw mutlipath different width and spacing at the same time?
Hi Pankaj,In addition to what Andrew has said, you might like to take a look at parts of the code attached to this Solution Article - it shows creating a layer cyclic field which you can present on the form for selecting the metal layer.  Also, you can use the code that Andrew suggested to directly get just the metal layers, for ...
