  • Re: "Backup" or "ISO 9001" Ratsnest, what files?
Thanks very much, Steve.  I'll bring these options to our discussion table in the office.

  • "Backup" or "ISO 9001" Ratsnest, what files?
We're trying to straigten out our ISO9001:2008 process, and it's a ratsnest.  A more simple description of our need would be to say that we simply want to make sure that we have a "minimal yet sufficient" set of files backed up.  So, you could view this question as being simply about WHAT to backup, ...

  • Re: Confused about copper pour spacing to hole
What is meant by "via" here, the pad or the hole in the via? To date, I'm only setting constraints relative to holes, not vias... (and it's NOT a testpoint)

  • Confused about copper pour spacing to hole
With a new PCB manufacturer, some constraints have changed and I'm trying to get them working correctly.  But I don't think my constraints are working correctly.  I'm using OrCAD PCB Editor version 16.3 [16.3 p006 (v16-3-85F)(11/10/2009) i86]. I have a via named "Via18cir_fin8_tinted" that has an 18mil diameter pad ...

  • Re: Error initializing COM property pages: Invalid pointer
As of 4/30/2012 I'm running OrCAD Capture 16.3. The two ocx's mentioned don't exist. Instead, at the same location, I find orpxllite.ocx and orTrueReuse.ocx. Doing regsvr32 to THESE instead did fix the same error for me on Windows 7. Note also, to run cmd as administrator, SEARCH for cmd from the start menu, see it higher up as a ...

  • Re: OrCAD Capture 16.3 hangs on load
Me too.  OrCAD Capture 16.3-p008 was working fine.  All of a sudden, when I loaded it again, I would get the splash screen.  A moment later the splash screen would go away, but the program window never came up.  On Windows 7 when I mouse over OrCAD Capture on the task bar, I would get a short window with the program name in it, ...

  • Re: RE: RE: How can I tell when my license expires?
Other sources told me to restart license manager, and indeed that fixed it. Thanks to you, also, oldmouldy. FYI to others: restart license manager using "License Server Configuration Utility".

  • Re: RE: RE: How can I tell when my license expires?
...perhaps not. I just loaded OrCAD Capture and got the message: "OrCAD Capture license was not found. Would you like to launch Capture using demo license? Click the Help button to view the limitations in the demo version of the tool" I checked and the license.dat file is still there. Last month, I did an email reply rather ...

  • Re: Urgent BOM error needs fixing
redwire, thanks for the help.  I'll follow through on that.  Did I accidently turn on a mode that was off before? BTW, I've never found any decent doc to read for OrCAD, anyway.  It's been impossible to find the answer if you don't already know it, and I've been doing this kind of thing as an expert for 31 ...

  • Re: Urgent BOM error needs fixing
I got my BOM fixed, but still need to get rid of the yellow lines. Specifically, I found something via Google about instances and occurences.  I found a radio button on the Tools / Bill of Materials window that I never needed to check before.  Changing it from Use Instances to Use Occurences (Preferred) made the BOM correct.  ...
