  • Re: multiple part symbols
Thanks Oldmouldy! I actually did the RMB>Split Part and saw the spreadsheet. I knew I could change the number of parts and add pins, but I didn't realize that the part would then save as heterogeneous, so I never tried to save it. I abandoned my effort one step too soon! Thanks for all of your good answers to this forum. Bob

  • multiple part symbols
Hi All, I'm using 16.5. I started to make a new symbol with one part/package. I have about 100 pins, out of 250+ pins, placed on this package. Now I decided to add a second part and make this a two parts/package symbol. I clicked on OPTIONS/PACKAGE PROPERTIES and I can change the Parts per Pkg to 2, but the Heterogeneous radio button is ...

  • Re: BOM
Thanks oldmouldy! For now I did a workaround by copying the data from the two "drum" columns to two unused columns with the schematic icon. Then I rename them in Excel. I'll try loading the schematic parts into the database when time permits.  Bob

  • Re: BOM
Hi OM, Do you mean the database that Orcad opens up when I say  Place > Database Part? None of the parts in my schematic are taken from this database. I'm modifying an existing schematic from an outside customer and I copied/pasted parts from the existing schematic, or I loaded a generic part from my own library and edited the ...

  • BOM
Hi All, Using 16.5. I'm trying to generate a BOM by using REPORT > CIS Bill of Materials > Standard... and Exporting it to Excel In the Output Format part of the screen I see the items to use for column headers. Some of the header items have a small schematic symbol icon and some have a small yellow square (folder?) icon. When I ...

  • Re: GC Prevue and drill file
Tom, I've also run into this issue when using GC Prevue. A while ago I downloaded Viewmate. So now if GC Prevue shows me a mismatch, I switch over to Viewmate and it looks ok.........and vice versa. I realize this doesn't address the problem you had with your customer, but just as an FYI.   Bob

  • link pcb and schematic
Hi All, I'm using SBP16.5. Typically at my workplace I'll create a schematic in OrCad CIS and we'll send it out to company X to have a board routed. X then sends the routed board to us for approval. We tell them what we want them to rerout, they send a new board, and it goes back and forth like that until we get a board we can ...

  • Re: Bus connection
Thanks Steve. I started using netgroups and it's working well. One unrelated question......when I'm making connections on a schematic I see a red dot to let me know I can end a wire at a pin. Sometimes there is a dot and sometimes not. I like seeing that red dot. How can I make it appear all the time? Thanks! Bob

  • Bus connection
Hi All, I'm using SPB16.5, making a schematic with OrCad Capture CIS. I made a bus named DATA[0:7] and then wired it with DATA0, DATA1....... etc. Now I need another bus named HSI[0:15]. However, instead of naming the signals HSI0, HSI1..........I want to name them WAKE, SEND, FLAG, and other names not related to HSI. Is this possible? I ...
