  • Re: Auto Fanout to Copper Regions
fanout by pick is working if the part is away from the edge of the shape so will keep digging on this as it must be distance related. Auto fanout also works for pins that are not close to the shape edge.   This could be the problem. The layer with the shape that is defined as ground is a routing layer not a power plane. I had the route ...

  • Re: Auto Fanout to Copper Regions
back at the board today and still not understanding why auto fanout tracks and vias are extending out to avoid the shape with the same net directly below. I can manually route it and plant a via and it connects to the shape properly.

  • Auto Fanout to Copper Regions
I've been using Altium for quit a while so have forgotten PCB Designer to a large degree. Working with designer today I have a copper region assigned to the ground net. I can manually fanout the pins to this region and plant a via no problem. The Auto Fanout though seems to want to avoid it if I have large fanout distances set. I vaguely think ...

  • Re: Error coming up creating PCB Editor SPMHDB-195 "text line is outside of the extents"
Mouldy your comments helped a lot although mostly over my head but got me to focus on the footprint symbol. This is a converted design from Layout over to PCB Editor. I found the converted footprints had lots of text associated with them. First thing I did was export the converted libraries from Editor. The two the netlist was complaining about I ...

  • Error coming up creating PCB Editor SPMHDB-195 "text line is outside of the extents"
Error appears during PCB Editor Netlist Creation. Tried recreating the schematic symbol causing the error but no luck. Moved it to different libraries but same result. Change the pin names. This is all the session log shows on the error. If the symbol is deleted the netlist completes with no errors.

  • hiding selected etch
Is there a way to turn off etch selectively? I.E. you want to see the etch on the top associated with a particular net but hide all the rest.

  • Re: can't unfix part
hm well when unfixing the symbol I only had SYMBOL selected in the FIND FILTER. I turned every thing on in the FIND FILTER then select on of the symbol pads and unfixed it. That worked and now the symbol no longer shows the inherited fixed property and I can move it. You'd think that selecting the SYMBOL in the FIND FILTER would be sufficient ...

  • can't unfix part
If I display element on the symbol it says it has an inherited fixed property. When I unfix it the command status appears that it removes the fixed status but then I find it is still fixed when I try to move it. I dug around in constraints and found no indications of the symbol being fixed. I know this is my doing as every connector on ...
