OK, my personal preference would be to avoid re-installation since there is only a very small chance that this might fix anything and quite a good chance that it might break something!

    An update:

I updated to 16.6 yesterday and still have the same issue. I notified tech support of this and we spent about 30 minutes on the phone this morning using "go to meeting" so he could see my screen. We tried many different configuration things, non of which made any difference.

He is forwarding the results of our testing to Cadence. We are looking into it possibly being an issue between the basic version of PCB Editor (which I have) and the Professional version.

    Stay tuned..................

    Another update from Tech support:

"I have an update from Cadence.

They are able to reproduce the issue on a clean machine.

so it seems it is specific to your product.

They have submitted this to R&D and we will have to wait for a patch to the software"

This bug has been around a while.  I filed it back when 16.2 came out.  Cadence swore it was me and not them. It was Cadence.

I had even been part of the BETA test team for 16.2 and it failed but my failures were discarded since the other BETA testers did not see it.  What was the issue?  Everyone at Cadence is running a higher license level and the solver just quits quietly for those of us with Performance licenses only.  They have to test at the lower license levels to see the problem but it has to be a machine that has never had or can not have access to a higher license.  Finally a hotfix came out for 16.2 and now I see it's back...sigh...
